I get it's a metaphor for the Axis powers or whatever but nobody would ever feel sympathy for Marley, Reiner or the zogbot enslaved Eldians because the entire story up until that point was about the islanders surviving no matter what. You could have them be an evil anti-hero but you could never replace them as the protagonist. NOBODY likes a cuck and the ending was just one big cuckfight.
