>plots that make sense
>no woke bullshit
>good effects
trekkies didn't know how good they had it. now enjoy your interspecies space lesbians
>>

3rd movie destroyed the franchise. first two were pretty good tho
>>
>big black enterprise
>beaming from Earth to the Klingon homeworld in an instant
>rage monster Spock
Indo Darkness was a shitshow
>>
when they attack the space aliens with the beastie boys song from the first movie, you knew they were out of gas
>>
All we wanted was a reasonably budgeted regular television series with a group of space explorers having episodic adventures that were kinda corny but also sometimes made you think.
>>

The hatred for JJ Abrams is the most forced thing.
>>
>>220882941
these movies were objectively better than star wars prequels and sequels but trekkies still refused them, I'd say they got what they deserved.
>>
>you're a trekkie therefore you should vacuum up any half decent star trek content and be grateful even though it has little resemblance to what made star trek special to you because it could be way, way worse, got it?
what kind of abusive relationship bullshit is this? be grateful i only punched you in the face because i could've snapped your neck, faggot

First one was fine, mediocre popcorn movie. Into Darkness was actually good and I really liked Cucumber's depiction of Khan. Beyond was fucking retarded, boring and had a nonsensical plot.

>>220883009
Chalk and cheese, and trekkies didn't like this because it wasn't made for them. JJ trek is trek for normies. I am a trekkie and I did enjoy the first two, but they aren't trek, not really. They are sci-fi action flicks with a trek coat of paint.
>>
>>220883069
Nah, he got Khan all wrong. Khan doesnt act menacing. He is super casual which is why he IS so menacing.

I do appreciate that the actors for the main crew do a good job of portraying the characters with out becoming cartoon versions of the old crew. Karl Urban is particularly excellent at portraying Bones without doing a flat out impression of DeForest Kelly
>>
>>220882964
agree, still not real trek tho
>>
>>220883004
Go to bed JJ you've got franchises to ruin in the morning.

>First one was fine, mediocre popcorn movie
No it wasn't, it was an action movie that was supposed to be a sci fi movie.
>Into Darkness was actually good
hahaha this is hilarious, Into Darkness is the one even the studio admits was a misfire
>I really liked Cucumber's depiction of Khan.
He was supposed to be Indian ffs
>Beyond was fucking retarded, boring and had a nonsensical plot.
They were all like this. But yes, the Beastie Boys ending was "Beyond" cringe.
>>
So is the 4th movie just not happening or what? It's been like 10 years since the 3rd movie, it should have happened by now
>>
>>220883236
I think the current plan is to reboot the first one with a new cast.
>>
>>220882941
Dude, they had two attempts that were shit, and you're surprised that people weren't interested to potentially get fooled a third time?
>>220883004
Hey JJ, did your son wrote any more shitty comics thanks to nepotism?
>>
>>220883004
>Never made a single good movie
>Ruined not one, but TWO of the biggest SF franchises in existence
You think so?
>>
>>220882967
>rage monster Spock
Did you not watch TOS? He rage killed his best friend for pussy
>>
>>220882941
>horrible cast
>horrible plot
>horrible aesthetic
>Spock and Uhura are dating
into the trash
>>

I'll never forget JJ Abrams admitting to Jon Stewart that he didn't watch Star Trek until agreeing to direct the Star Trek movie and that when he did watch it, he didn't like it. Stewart was flabbergasted

Based

Did you not pay attention to that episode? He was undergoing the mating cycle, which happens once every seven years. In the JJ movies he's like that all the time, which doesn't make any fucking sense.

Vulcan's being autist rage monsters makes perfect sense...because they are. However, they generally dont act like that because they decided to mind over matter their natural state and purge emotion entirely. To the point that they made it the entire focus of their religion. It is not out of line to explore Spock having difficulty with this as being half human makes following the Vulcan disciplines more difficult. Him losing his shit on Khan would be an odd choice but workable IF any of the context of Vulcans and especially Spock were properly explained....they were not.
