He was in jail for just as much as Feech and Phil and they don't sound like brain surgeons. You can't "unlearn" your accent and mannerisms that easily. He would have had to have worked at it.

Concept was good and season 1 works but the show revolved around Nucky and his son conflict. Father vs son, Old vs New... those are timeless conflicts that have worked for thousands of years. The problem is that apparently the guy playing the son was impossible to work with IRL so they had to let him go and once they killed the character off they literally had no show anymore. They had to keep it going because you know, building those sets ain´t cheap and there were probably tons of other contractual obligations too. It is rather unfortunate.
