>>220886579I suspect we will see the pendulum swing back in 10-15 years. We are currently on the tail end of the Marvel fatigue era and serious cerebral movies are coming out amidst calls for a return to “sincerity”. So we are getting some kino, but also a lot of 2deep4me slop that insists on itself for the sake of exhibiting sincerity and experimenting with dark themes through elaborate lighting and shadows (ie: Nosferatu). Eventually this tendency will exhaust itself and people will grow tired of film becoming a pretentious circlejerk with 7 layers of symbolism in each gay long shot with discussions becoming a media literacy oneupmanship. I’m not sure what comes next but I predict a “back to the basics” movement where horror movies are more akin to the old school Dracula or Wolf-Man which were sincere but without being pseud
I like both genre of horror movies. I can enjoy drag me to hell and smile, jumpscares are fun even when you see them coming. I like artsy horror. I like unexpected horror coming from a tangent. I like experimental horror. I watched Lo, I've watched Poontypool, The vast of night, Endless, Cube, the lighthouse. You know what I don't like?Nothing-is-fucking-happening pseud movies. It's-actually-about-boring-ass-trauma movies. Or you-won't-get-those-90-minutes-of-your-life-back-asshole movies. To WHOEVER asked me to watch Lake Mongo, or LAKE MONGOLOID as I call it, FUCK YOU.
>>220888263>I suspect we will see the pendulum swing back in 10-15 yearsNo such thing. It's full steam ahead with the faux intellectual drivel until morale improves.
>>220888263>and serious cerebral movies are coming out No, they're not, you fucking moron.
>>220886579low testosterone
they wouldn't have the balls to make something like this.
>>220889141They may not be actually cerebral or as deep as they try and make it out to be, but that sort of thing is gobbled up by midwits. This is obviously what I meant which you would've gathered from the overall context of my post if your heart wasn't filled with hate.
