Is it any good? Can I enjoy it if I'm not a shotafag?
>>220887037I watched it with my kids cause one of them was reading it for school. It sucks.
it's incredibly medicorethere were people(gays) trying to shill it as some sort of experimental miniseries when it first came out, but in reality it was just the same boring anamorphic bokeh every streaming show does now and 10 second nature montages inbetween scenesthey even blackwashed ralph
>>220887037It's better than the two previous adaptations. The kid who will play Draco was the most talented compared to the rest of the children. The ending was incomplete imo.
>>220887037being able to control flies is a shit superpowerstupid hollywood cape slop
>>220887243The title of this book has nothing to do with the main plot, btw. It's not about real flies, it's a metaphor, the flies are supposed to be the children.
>>220887399or maybe the tittle has to do with the fact that one kid finds a pig head surrounded by literal flies that presents himself as lord of the flies (satan) in an hallucination.learn to have some sense of humour.
>>220887243I dunno man, if the ability extends to controlling maggots, and you can get the flies to lay eggs in living flesh and make the maggots eat the flesh, then you can strip all kinds of living things in a very inconvenient and horrifically uncomfortable way. It’s probably especially useful in a tropical environment where flies thrive and shit can get easily infected.
>>220887399are you an bot?
>>220887459>satanBeelzebub.
>>220887399>the flies are supposed to be the childrenBut isn't there only one black one? Seems more like 'Lords of the Fly' would've been a more fitting title
>>220887037It was written by a seething Jew pedophile as essentially a fanfic about his students. There was a real incident where sole boys were stranded in an island in the south pacific for months and they actually looked out for each other and all came home alive. They did luck out in finding an abandoned village with feral chickens and taro crops tho.
>>220887552They also were native to the area and not british primary school students, so the irl incident was a whole different kettle of fish and not the cultural commentary Golding was going for.
>>220887695I'd say the British have demonstrated they do very well in tropical climates and faraway places. Also cultural commentary has to be tempered with reality, you can't just go "everyone is a stupid bastard because I say so".
>>220887751Tbh I've found that "The Hatchet" by Gary Paulsen is a much better boy survival story, mostly because Paulsen was an actual survivalist and knew what had to be done.I hear they've been editing out the scene where the kid attempts suicide tho, removes a lot of pathos.
>>220887552>It was written by a seething Jew pedophile as essentially a fanfic about his students. That’s the first time I’ve heard about it. If this is true, then why are they still teaching it in schools?
>>220887751Those particular students he was fanficcing probably were stupid little bastards tho
>>220887800Tbh the pedophile bit is something /tv/ alleges but the guy did state in an interview or somthing that it was "inspired" by his students.
>>220887800Because every teacher in existence has read it and mistaken it for a greater general social commentary that can be applied to their own students. When actually teaching english just kinda sucks.
>>220887037Why do they still make kids read instead of making them break down films? I hate reading and I think its because how school forced it upon me
>>220887243>says the man before he dies from fly and shit based asphyxiation
>>220887800Easy to digest themes combined with rhe fact that it's entertaining and pretty readable for middle schoolers.
>>220887541>But isn't there only one black one? It's interesting because they only raceswapped the "hero" of the story. The hero (Ralph) is black, the main villain (Jack is and) is white.
>>220887037It's good if you're a communist.
>>220887796After reading a lot of Gary Paulsen as a kid and a bit of Cormac McCarthy as an adult I have come to the conclusion that Gary Paulsen is just Cormac McCarthy for middle schoolers.
>>220887852My school forced me to watch the movies when I wanted to analyze the texts. We should have both had different childhoods.
>>220887876Is he bl... blll.... BLBLLBLBL.... BLLLAAACCCK??!?
>>220887899Maybe so, but if you had my childhood you would have a father who can consume books like water, but had absolutely no interest in reading to you. Probably another reason I dont like reading as it was installed into me earlyon.
>>220887475>swarming your enemies with botflies laying eggs in their fleshThe horror
>>220887952Of course he’s black, it’s the new adaptation and the series came out this year (BBC and later on Netflix). You can’t make a film or show without POC these days. The character is also the main hero, do he needs to be non white for that, the other main hero is just fat because fat kids can only exist on TV as heroes now, not as a joke.
>>220888010I would not fuck with Fly Lord.
The 1990 one was good. The 60s one is in black and white and the acting isn't so great. This one has a bunch of creepy close ups on little boys' faces while they look into the camera and there is an Indian in it.
>>220888016Survivor went against their own new-ish 50% gay or brown diversity mandate last season to boost content because they were going broke from being woke.
>>220887070>>220887132>>220887163OP have you read the book? Its a pretty short easy read. When it comes to classic books, I would never watch the movie, especially if I never read the book first. Also, since you're not in school having a educated exploration of it you'll have to look up a variety of articles, study guides, even YouTube to get the class discussion that you missedLiterary Influence: >The novel remains a cornerstone of academic curricula worldwide, serving as a philosophical foundation for discussions on morality, psychology, and government.Author Accolades: >Its profound impact on literature directly contributed to author William Golding winning the 1983 Nobel Prize in Literature.

>>220887037>Can I enjoy it if I'm not a shotafag?You're a sick person
Is Piggy the most annoying character written in fiction? I just can't stand him. Maybe it's just me and my dislike for fat people.
The new version made it clear that Simon was gay and had romantic feelings for Jack. This was also obvious in Simon's diary, especially in the way he talked about Jack.
>>220888689Also I don't support gay people, especially romance between children. I'm just pointing it out because the new version of LOTF was woke but unironically I liked it more than the other two adaptations.
>>220887037The original 50's adaptation has full uncensored nudity of the small male children, penis and. Was quite a shock to see it on television.
>>220889336It was a different time
>>220887876A black would be part of the other group. He'd be the one leading the bad kids in their murder frenzy
>>220889588There is actually a black kid from the choir’s “bad” team, but he is just a pawn who obeys Jack’s orders.
I really like the ending where an adult (like me) shows up and the kids immediately stop the shit. It's a good reminder for not only how to deal with kids, but their grown up (only physically) counterpart, leftist.
>>220890399The ending is incomplete.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dnSc0LydVNAWhat happens afterward? We simply don’t know the future of those kids. There’s no fucking way they’re going to live a normal life after everything that happened on that island.
>>220890584The ending is a metaphor for war. They will integrate like returning soldiers, poorly.>Man = end of war>Children = soldiers>me = IQ 200+
>>220888488he's the og redditor
>>220890584>There’s no fucking way they’re going to live a normal lifewhy not? people lived normal lives after going to war
>>220887037what the fuck are those artsy shots and sound design? fucking ruined the entire show
>>220887037americans already did it better with wire s4
>>220887243>>220887475Read Worm
>>220890399>the kids immediately stop the shit.honestly i thought they were going to kill him like those uncontacted tribes do
Thoughts on the cinematography?
>>220887037I always thought it was the last of the cronenberg trilogy but after watching the fly 2 I had no interest in it.
>>220891126Quite gross. Like a bag of bones in a corpse-skin bag. He should've gotten a botfly infestation, to make it even more gross.
>>220891126ayo this nigga moving like gollum
>>220891177It is gross and creepy. >>220891207Exactly. It's like the director wanted to point out how inhuman the kids were starting to act.
>>220890914Look at this specific scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9X2GVlqaHcThey're all kids, not adult men who went to war, fucking kids and this is what they did. Their adulthood is not going to be normal.
>>220888200>Author Accolades:Attempted rapist.Just as an aside, there was a group of kids who ended up on a deserted island who did fine. They planted crops, found chickens left from some settlement, helped each other. They were a little older though. But it's interesting how different it turned out. Not that the Lord of the flies is meant to be a realistic "what would happen" scenario...
So does this adaptation do justice to the actual insanity/metal nature of the story? Seeing the kids walking around like possessed demons kinda captures the proper spirit of it. How do they do the scene with Simon's hallucination? >adults show up >kids reality suddenly shifts entirely It really do be that way.
>>220891946>They were a little older thoughHow much older? That actually makes a huge difference.
>>220891037Came here to post this. Its only a couple million words.
>>220892007This scene was insane, I'm an adult but this conversation with the beast creeps me out.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veOPQo6pUvw
>>22089205812-16 iircI think the books spread was 8-12?So pretty significant. I still don't think it would devolve like it did in the book though. But like I said, it's not really meant to be taken as a realistic depiction. In Lord of the flies they're only there a short while, right? In the closest real world example they were there for over a year.
>>220890399It's like when Jesus comes back.
>>220887552Only a gay pedo would write this book, unironically. Also, only gay pedos would direct this book. Only gay pedos would watch the movies and the new tv show too.
>>220892152>I'm an adultPsychically sure, but mentally you're clearly stuck in arrested developmentbased on all your other posts on the site :^)
>>220892152Eh, it's not quite what I was hoping for. The whispering was the right touch, but it doesn't seem nearly hallucinatory enough, especially considering that in the book Simon hears it in the voice of a schoolmaster. I've had auditory hallucinations including hearing voices before, and they sounded oddly familiar, not unlike the voice of my own internal monologue, but many different versions of it. Shit like this doesn't do justice to the actual horrifying despair that washes over a person who knows they've lost their mind. Simon doesn't seem nearly weak or delirious enough either. The way I recall imagining him during the conversation in the book was like seeing someone who was in literal shock, almost like they have disassociated from their surroundings.
>>220887826He was known for pitting his students against each other. Psychologically and apparently physically. He sounds like an asshole who saw the world through his own asshole lens.
>>220892653>He was known for pitting his students against each other. Psychologically and apparently physically.Source on this, dafuq? Kinda throws a wrench in his entire philosophy if it's true.
>>220889336>>220889542Just like in "La Guerre des Boutons" in 1962.
>>220892653Sounds right for the british education system. It’s baked into the whole model.

>>220892844Well in hindsight it’s in some ways less pathetic than posting here back in our early 20s when we coulda been out making real friends and having meaningful experiences in our youths. But, eh, whatcha gonna do.
>>220892932bodied that freak
>>220892726His journals. He took them on a field trip to an old neolithic site, divided them up who one group set as attackers and the other as defenders, sat back and watched. He also set them against either debate style, but just let them escalate into shouting matches and "chaos". It's all kinda vague.
>>220892844>GodsI disregard every faggot who says this.
>>220892998...that doesn't sound like he "pit them against each other". It sounds like he was hoping they'd act with the civility they'd grown up with, but instead they acted like chimps. >>220887800It's about kids creating a society from nothing, why the fuck wouldn't you teach it to kids that need to learn how to integrate in societyJesus christ some of you are dumb as bricks
It's decent but the soundtrack and artsy fartsy shit they add at the end really drowns the story. I get why the music is loud and nervous but god damn why do it in EVERY scene? Just read the book.>>220890914They're children who killed other children (and also ate them in the books btw), not adults going to war.
>>220887037Unironically they SHOULD reverse the fucking genders, then it would actually make sense for the little girls to all murder the ugly one. In all the real-life stories we have of groups of boys who survive as castaways on deserted island has everybody cooperating and working hard to take care of their injured fellows. Meanwhile, anybody who read that post about the male vs. female battle of the sexes Survivor show knows how women come together and adapt and improvise and overcome in hardcore survival/competition scenarios . . .Reversing the genders fixes every single problem with this gay-ass fucking story and also *faceslaps* allows you to make a movie about gorgeous teenage girls in the jungle turning into primitive savages and killing the unpopular one, and you put that out in the beginning of summer and just start printing fucking money.
>>220893504>there is no standard human male height>thats sad
>>220887070The book is great, what are you talking about?
>>220890914Well, not all of them. Not a lot of them, actually. So many of them didn’t that we made a whole new classification of mental illness over it.
>>220893764Realistically those girls would stop being gorgeous within a matter of hours.
>>220892844>GodsStopped reading here. You're a retarded larper with no valuable thoughts.

THEY ARE SEXUALISING CHILDREN.THEY ARE SEXUALISING LITTLE BOYS.You all act like you don't know how GAY PEDOWOOD works. All those LOTF adaptations are fucked up, ESPECIALLY the new adaptation. The parents of those little boys are prostituting their sons. You don't want to know what ((THEY)) are doing to those boys behind the scenes.>>220893351Body language is telling you everything you need to know.
>>220887552It was about his spoiled upper class British students. Brown people are more grounded and resourceful in nature

>>220894426Zooomers are all so fucking obsessed with pedophilia lmao. What is the matter with you creeps?
>>220894454It’s cause they’ve grown up in glass bubbles their whole lives in a normalized surveillance state that they can’t even recognize as being wrong, but they instinctually sense that their autonomy has been compromised somehow, so they lash out and cling to the last remaining taboo that they can scapegoat.
>>220894439Then why are brown people the biggest polluters on the planet?
>>220894536Britisher we will take your noticing eyes oh my goodness gracious yes.
how do the other 2 adaptations compare to this new one
>>220895542The original is the closest to the relevant era and is therefore the best, and adheres the most to traditional filmmaking.Compared to that you have weird american directorial choices, or a version that is British but must follow modern diversity mandates whilst committing to an absolutely rancid visual style.Lord Of The Flies is honestly just very shit though, absolute midwit fiction that is either misandrist or misanthropic depending on how you interpret it, and essentially sells the idea of a contrived urban myth as some essential part of human nature. In reality humans are social animals and this will usually win out in a standard natural environment.
>>220895695>social animalsTribal animals. It's baked into our hard wiring. People will invent boogeymen if they don't have a real adversary, and they'll favor people on whatever "team" they're on regardless of how low the stakes are or how meaningless the team's objective is. The ending of LotF is what really drives the point home. As soon as the adults show up, the kids' mental framework suddenly shifts back to the civilized one. The stability and order they thought was permanently erased was immediately restored.
