Wishbone. It was a tv show about a dog who would pretend to be characters from classic literature.

The H G Wells’s The Time Machine episode taught me that reading isn’t just fun, it’s fundamental.

why are there always people that do this? Been seeing this for decades. I call a dog or cat a good boy, and some retarded sperg abruptly has to exclaim “she, she’s a girl!”. Like the animal is a girl in the same sense that a woman is. As if there is some huge shift in how people will perceive the animal after that point. What, is the dog going to start carrying a purse or some shit?? Is the boy dog going to hit the gym, play some video games? It’s an animal, it doesn’t matter what they are, or are called. It doesn’t care if I say , she, he, or piece of shit. Forcing he or she when it doesn’t matter is creepy, like some anthropomorphized shit. I bet there is a huge crossover in the Venn diagram of, furries, and people that insist on a pet’s gender. Shit is probably like a king in checkers.

What the fuck! Why would I be surprised to hear dogs are still on this planet when I hear dogs do that thing with their legs but I’m like little feet scattering and skittering with their feet on the dirty floors but it’s like they’re not that bad of an idea to have them in a place. The Wishbone to Redwall era made PBS a MUST WATCH when you got home from school.
>I didn't go to one of the psychotic elementary schools that told children under 10 about 9/11 so I found out about it when I got home to watch Redwall and it was just footage of the jets hitting the towers on repeat. I thought it was a movie for like 15 minutes before 8 year old me realized something was up lol.
Also I know they're kids books but they might have the most faithful on screen adaptations ever made.

>>
>>220897869
Nah, and I didn't read much Redwall honestly even though I liked the ones I read a lot. I don't know why. I liked the show too but mainly for the theme song and the aesthetic of the intro. I own Martin the Warrior right now randomly so maybe I'll read it or something. Mossflower is my favourite like I said but I never see it.

That's fair. In my experience a lot of people weren't reading Redwall when I was, because the time I got into them coincided with the release of the Harry Potter and Series of Unfortunate Events series which were both infinitely more popular. I liked Harry Potter for a while and unfortunate events a little more but neither ever did it for me like Redwall did. I had a thing for history and medieval stuff. A medieval series with basically no magic was pretty hard to resist. Thanks for reading my blog.

I was in 4th grade on 9/11. All morning the teachers were acting weird and stressed, and when we were going over math that morning our principle came in, talked to our teacher with an envelope covering his mouth, she looked scared, then turned the TV on. The towers were already burning at that point, we all watched for a bit then she turned it off. I don't remember what we did in school the rest of that day, but they held us all at the school and had parents come pick us up. I live in the midwest and both my parents worked in the city at that time so I was afraid it was happening all over and my parents were both dead. My dad was a firefighter so I was afraid he was going to go in a building that would collapse, then later on when they asked for volunteers he didn't go because he said old buildings were full of carcinogens and low and behold years later a lot of those firefighters died of cancer.

They were never explicitly gory but those books didn't pull any punches when it came to violence or death. I'll never forget Rose, the love of Martin's life, getting her head bashed in against a wall in the final battle. Another scene that has stuck with me was one of the big bads, I forget which book, demanding one of his underlings who was missing most of his teeth to eat a bird whole and essentially forcing him to choke himself to death. Well then there's the obvious one where dozens of Cluny's army get boiled alive with porridge.

Nobody explained what 9/11 was to me the day it happened, people just kept referring to a nebulous tragedy that happened, even my mom. Like she expected me to have learned at school but nobody told me. I finally had to ask in the middle of a Tom and Jerry.

For me it was the descriptions of things like natural phenomena or predators that probably seemed supernatural to the characters. Anything with snakes in particular, but also the scene in Lord Brocktree with Stonepaw in the underground pool room and then in Mariel of Redwall with the Pygmy shrews doing the sacrifice ritual. It’s like something out of Lovecraft.
