Why did so many of them choose to be dead rather than quick?

this is one of maybe 5 westerns released after 1970 that I give a shit about. Modern westerns are generally ass but this was a really fun, stylish movie and one of Sam Raimi's best.

This movie would greatly improve without Sharon Stone's character, she basically does nothing until the very end. Russel Crowe's character should have been the protagonist, which he basically is for 2/3 of the movie
>>
What gun would you bring to the dueling competition?
>>
>>220895658
name the others, i'd like to watch some non-eastwood westerns.
>>

Well she co-produced the movie so that wasn't going to happen. If it did I would add a couple more character actors instead of expanding Russell Crowe's role.

Well 2 of them have Eastwood in them, Outlaw Josey Wales and High Plains Drifter, others are Lonesome Dove, Dances with Wolves and the True Grit remake. That's pretty much all of the modern westerns I actually like. 1939-1969 was the golden age of the genre, hundreds of good to great westerns made during that time

true grit was kino.

Tombstone I find to be mediocre, Val Kilmer is great but the overall film leaves something to be desired. 3:10 to Yuma I hate how they changed the ending, just a travesty. It doesn't even make sense it's just retarded. I would much rather watch the original with the proper ending

Forgot about that one, I did like it.

Good for you, stupid jamboy.

hope you don't go around recommending films to family or friends

What is so good about it? It's just a by the numbers 90s action movie in western clothes. Aside from Val Kilmer's performance it's thoroughly average in all respects. There are hundreds of better westerns

What about Silverado? It's one of my favorites

Deadwood was kino.

No offense but I really, really hate that one. Kevin Kline is just a horrible choice to lead a western and the film itself is even worse. Not even a proper western imo just an 80s adventure flick that happens to take place in the old west. Lawrence Kasdan doesn't understand the genre

i hate what silverado is, a fat budget studio attempt at a revival through a weird ensemble, but i really can't hate the film itself. it's not great but it's pretty okay, i really love danny glover and his arc with the dad.

>3:10 to Yuma
>Old Henry
>Legend of the Fall
>Tombstone
>Shanghai Noon
>Young Guns 1 & 2

This movie feels like Unforgiven fan-fiction. A bit too similar.

theres some great homage-y stuff like three amigos/rustlers rhapsody that aren't tonally real westerns but still great too
