Just marathoned the first ep (B&W obv) what did I think of it???
>>
>>220899358
It's alright. Cage running around obviously winded is kinda out of place for a super hero but it isnt worse thing.

His Jimmy Stewart is pretty entertaining.
>>
>what did I think of it???

literal npc behavior

the color version looks cool too

Anything with Nick Cage having fun is going to be great. Hell, even his unhinged horror movies are good. I enjoyed Mandy. And also this is probably my favorite. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=jO9lc3wzifY
Its completely stupid but I desperately want to know more about his character.
>>
Really loved the whole season
The plot twist of him being Peter's uncle was amazing
>>
Should've just been a movie
>>
it only becomes cagekino in episode 6 tbqf
>>
is this a mini series or will there be a second season?

Despite all my rage i am still just a nic in a cage

It's too bad we're getting this now when he's over 60, and not 20 years ago when he was doing Ghost Rider.

“The superhero phenomenon, if you will, was most interesting to me when I was 11 years old,” Cage said, recalling his childhood fascination with “The Incredible Hulk” comics that eventually gave way to more adult interests. “But I’m not really interested in superheroes. I’m interested in the psyche. I’m interested in film performance and I’m interested in acting and different styles of acting. Whether it’s comedy or drama or action adventure or whether it’s old style acting or kabuki or opera, I’m interested in all of it. I love it all, but I’m always looking for something new to explore and to do. And so with ‘Spider-Noir,’ it’s one of the rare maybe two or three times where this vision in my imagination manifested exactly as I had hoped.”

Might have to give the color version a go

While most Spider-Man stories typically tap Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, where a crime boss is required, Spider-Noir swung in a different direction by bringing Silvermane into live-action
>>
Megawatt: his first and only comic appearance came in Spider-Man Unlimited #2. His live-action debut in Spider-Noir is the only origin story we really have for the character. He emerges as a surprisingly formidable antagonist as Spider-Noir’s mystery unspools.

+Cage carries hard, certified cagekino
+Gleeson carries too
+decent cast in general, (almost) no character is annoying
+occasionally interesting cinematography, especially in the second half, where the story and visuals really ramp up
+in terms of body horror and violence it goes a bit harder than I expected
+spider vs sandman vs not-electro was pretty decent
+the did a pretty good job at deaging cage for the flashbacks

-BARELY ANY SPIDER IN IT. He doesn't even put the mask on until the end of episode 2 or 3. this is my biggest gripe because for three quarters of the series this wouldn't even need to be about a spiderman
-some of the actions scene feel very anemic in terms of choreography and rhythm, and spider vs electrofatso absolutely sucks
-sandman looks quite cheap (and overall I don't get what his deal was, pretty schizophrenic character)
-the child was the only annoying character (of course), but luckily he doesn't show up too often. not-electro borders on annoyance too. that's the whole joke, but he still objectively talks way too much
-I wish there was more spunk in the first half of the series
-cage is too old for the role, although this is admittedly addressed in the series

I watched it in color, frankly it doesn't look that great in black and white and the coloring is pretty nice.
overall better than I expected, let's say 7/10?

The only good points in your post. They fucked up the black and white. They put absolutely no thought into it and just point-clicked desaturate and were done. For the color they put a lot of thought and effort into it and did their best to make hidef technicolor.

As for age. He's meant to be old and grizzled in this series. It's not an origin story it's a reemergence story. He's 6 years retired after at least 10-13 years of crime fighting. And has been a huge alcoholic for those 6 years.

I do find they mess up his power scaling. He gets knocked out by a car door being opened but can lift a car. Gets hurt by a normies punch but can kick a guy through a wall. I wish they would have addresses his power changing in the series such as alcohol abuse has suppressed his powers or that by fighting the spider side of him he was suppressing his powers. That's my only gripe.

Other than that total cage kino.

I was going to flame you but I think I've seen it three times myself so I can't talk. Mandy is kino, sad we haven't gotten anything more from the director but that movie's very special. God I love being a Cagehaed

>>220899861
I look forward to that, but I'm 3 eps in and already he's had some great moments each episode. The blending of styles within this show is really doing it for me, I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I am and I don't normally bother with a majority of TV shows so I'm glad I have. The only thing I don't care for is the scenes focusing on his secretary, she's not a great character so the moments which are meant to develop her are all dead air

This season was felt like Ben coming back to his Spider mantle, rather than Spider-Man story from the get go. So, if it ever happens, season 2 could feature more Spider-Man action.
>>
>>220903851

Mostly agree.

If it wasn't for Cage, this would be a very so-so show. He carries it extremely hard. Gleeson is as good as he always is; he's genuinely menacing.
But as for the spider noir stuff, yes very 'anaemic'. We get a very rusty spider man whose power level is all over the place and he mostly stumbles through fights, takes as many hits as he gives out. This is fine to start with, because we're seeing that he's out of practice, out of shape... But then it's supposed to ramp up as he finds his groove so we end up with a grand finale fight where his full power is realised and he pulls off some impressive stuff but that doesnt happen. If anything he's worse in the end than the beginning.

I'll watch the next season but I hope they give us a bit more spider. Maybe the choreography is a budget issue.

i wouldn't be opposed to a season 2 but the biggest mistake they could make with this is overstaying the welcome and running it into the ground. 3 seasons tops.

they don't state his age, but he should probably be in his mid-forties at best. they did a decent job with the make up but sometimes you get glipses of his neck and you immediately see he's 62, plus the way he moves. how they handle his age ties with the power-scaling because how the fuck can the same guy who soloed 10 mobsters in episode 3 struggle to get through the doctor's window? really incosistent scaling, and I agree that a more explicit reason for it would have helped the narration. you can't even headcannon that it was alcohol because when he gets his groove back and fights those guys at the bar he's hammered.
>>220904303
the reason why there is this little action is budget, don't be stupid. again, I think they smartly saved a good chunk of it for the second half of the season where there's an evident jump in effects and visuals overall. but I mean, sandman just looks like some dude with a skin condition, and his power level is also quite incosistent

There is no Season 2, at least not with Cage. Read the interview he did yesterday and he said next he's either doing: movie, musical or stage (Broadway)
>>
>>220904355
>they don't state his age, but he should probably be in his mid-forties at best.
He could have been in his 40s durng the war they expanded the draft age around the middle of the war. Plus he was trained to be a flyboy before being sent to the front. So however long that takes gets added to it.

It's funny how they tried to shoehorn in her "being attractive" all the cops looking at her legs and Ralph Cramdom talking about how "nice" she is. I've heard of a slampig but never a slamheifer.

>>

Color. They used grading to make it look as much like old technicolor. The black and white, they just used software to make it black and white but did not do any in depth tweaking like they did the color version.
