these retarded japs used the same banzai tactics against poor chinese farmers who, on a good day, might have ONE machine gun for like a whole company or even a whole battalion, and so the shock n awe they provoked on them was quite powerful. These americans however, had whole fucking companies who used nothing but machine guns and then some individual soldiers had submachineguns and every squad was supposed to have at least one BAR. I don't know if marines had the BAR by this point though, I know they got the short end of the stick regarding equipment early in the war.

>>220914544They're not stupid but essentially, the Japs fielded an army that was equipped and trained like a WW1 army. E.g., they still wore pre-WW1 putees instead of socks like most armies in WW2. Their tactics were infantry-heavy and paid only lip service to combined arms. The IJN was the cutting edge branch of the Jap military and literally carried the Jap Army's initial victories.
