Are the Hellraiser movies good?I think the main girl is cute.
>>220913798First is very good, second is great, third is cringe but has some nice one liners, don't bother with the rest
>>220913798First one is kino, steep drop off from there but still campy horror kino if you like that sort.
>>220913798The first one is great and creepy. I love the second one. The third is full of a lot of dumb shit but its also the Doug Bradley show, and is worth watching just to see pinhead chew the scenery. Its also got some of my favorite lines from the series. And the d-list replacement cenobites are all so terrible I've come around on them.
The first is fantastic. The second one has good/interesting scenes and concepts but I think it's an unforgivable sin what it did to the mystique of the Cenobites, totally cucks them.
>>220913798First two are the only good ones. 3rd is fine but silly. The rest are mostly crap. Hellseeker is ok because they bring Kirsty back.
>>220913798They're okay. Candyman is his only really good kino.
>>220913798I honestly don't know. The premise is pretty far removed from typical slashers, I'm always more interested in the stuff they never show you than whatever is happening on screen
>>220913953>>220913827>>220913798Backing these anons up. Only the first two are worth your time and even then the 2nd is a huge step down... also the script called for her to save the dude from hell but the actor wouldnt come back
>>220913953>they bring Kirsty backto character assassinate tho
>>220913798Thread’s getting repetitive but yeah, watch the first two
>>220913978>the 2nd is a huge step downCome on, not even close. The 2nd is a good one with interesting ideas and lore. Hell and Leviathan look absolutely kino.
beautiful soundtrack by Christopher Young.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gYkoSTpS2w
First two both good but very different, the first one is more of a straight horror movie but the second feels like an 80s fantasy movie in the vein of Labyrinth but with gore.
>>220913977>The premise is pretty far removed from typical slashers,That is because Hellraiser is not a slasher flick.
>>220914061They’d already said it was worth seeing by the time they said that, they just thought it was beneath the first
>>220914255One thing that can be said about the Hellraiser series is that the plots have variety. If only the sequels were good after 2.
>>220913926>days salty pinfags have gone without seething over chaddard: zero
I wouldn't say 2 is a great movie, and some of the effects are cheesy, but it's still one of the most nasty and grimy horror movies I've ever seen. The psycho carving himself up with razors, skinless Julia (and making out with her), open brain surgery, the Channard transformation box, lots of other little details. It's fucked up.>>220914255>an 80s fantasy movie in the vein of Labyrinth but with goreI think this is why. It's got that dreamlike quality.
>>220913798For me, it was the fat Pinhead
>>220913798They're mostly garbage flicks associated with cool lore and designs.
1st is good, second was a disappointing bore (not sure why you tards are overrating it so much...) , haven't seen the rest
I like them all (even the bad ones); here's my top 5 favorites in order:>Hellraiser>Hellraiser: Bloodline>Hellbound: Hellraiser 2>Hellraiser: Inferno>Hellraiser: JudgementFrom what I've read Judgement wasn't even supposed to be in the franchise, but I still enjoyed it.
>>220916010Chinhead.
Judgement is the only good one even though it's critically panned
The first one is. What you should maybe do is watch the first one, then go watch Nightbreed, then Candyman. They're the 3 main Clive Barker kino's of the 90's. I quite enjoyed Candyman 2 i think more than the Hellraiser sequel.
>>220914255>the second feels like an 80s fantasy movieIt really doesn't and I have no idea why you would think it does. It follows similar plot beats to the first movie and is the only sequel you can tell Barker had a hand in unlike all the other sequels. III basically turns into a slasher and the rest were repurposed scripts completely unrelated to the franchise at first. >in the vein of Labyrinth but with gore. You definitely didn't see the movie. Hellraiser is supernatural fiction. Supernatural fiction is not the same as fantasy fiction.
>>220913798I'm clearly in the minority as I thought the 2nd was better, also thought the book was better than the first movie
>>220916010He stinks and I don’t like him
>>220916328>It really doesn't and I have no idea why you would think it does.Because we've actually watched movies, and some of us grew up through the 70s-80s so we remember it... If you don't think there are any similarities that's because you're not as smart as you think you are. There are some common or shared aesthetics and visual themes between Labyrinth, Neverending Story, Dreamscape and Hellbound. Arguing otherwise is just you being obviously and intentionally obtuse.
>>220916290
>>220916328NTA but I can see why
>>220916010>The fridge, you opened it, we came.
>>220916421>There are some common or shared aesthetics and visual themesSo what? Does that suddenly make Hellraiser II a fantasy action thriller because it took some inspiration from other movies? Is Star Wars a samurai film just because it was heavily inspired by Hidden Fortress?
The first one is one of the best horror films ever made. The sequel is pretty good, obviously it can't top the original but it basically does exactly what it should. The third film is stupid. The fourth film is stupid, but fun. After that the series goes off the rails and gets to a point where each one is so much worse than the last that it will have you reevaluate every single movie you have ever watched. The reboot was trash.
>>220915798Oh yeah it's nightmare kino, only other I've seen that has that feel is the beyond
>>220916264Yo a fellow judgment enjoer. Such a waste of a good script. They really should have put more money into it because the ideas are the best the series had since the second film.
>>220913798I'm rizzing a girl like that lately. They even have a similar voice. There's a faggot trying to approach her too and I kinda want to beat the shit out of him in front of her.
>>220916626What does rizzing mean for us uncs?
>>220916709As in charisma. Young people and people trying to sound young use it to say they’re being charming
>>220913827fourth one has nice details about the lore, but the first and second one are kino as fuck
>>220914167i want listen to this song while cheating on my gf with a femboy, that motherfucker will suck my cock and i will put this on my headphones
>>220913798Its so bullshit that the cenobites always say they can't distinguish between pleasure and pain, or that they like both extremes. They always pick pain. They're never getting like a normal massage, or eating an ice cream. Its not 50/50. They just like pain.
>>220916328>Hellraiser is supernatural fiction. Supernatural fiction is not the same as fantasy fiction.Actual autism. "Noooo i've already assigned these things to two different boxes, you can't find them similar!" Sure I can.
>>220913798First two are good (second not as good as the first but good as far as sequels go). Skip every single one after that.
>>220916524>Is Star Wars a samurai film just because it was heavily inspired by Hidden Fortressstar wars and samurai films are in fact the same genre: historical fiction. it says "a long time ago" right there at the start.
>>220913798The auditor of hell was kino
>>220917388Note how you didn't actually say I was wrong. You know what else is similar to each other? Horror and thriller. Does that mean they're the same and that we shouldn't make distinctions between them? Or is that something only autists would care about as well?
>>220917821>Note how you didn't actually say I was wrong.Of course you're wrong. You're telling someone he's "incorrect" to be reminded of Labyrinth when watching Hellraiser 2 because they would be stocked on different shelves in the store, which is idiotic. A romcom can remind me of a thriller can remind me of a sports movie. These are made up marketing categories and I can just as well group movies by which fruit I think they smell like and it will be exactly as correct as your autism. Hellraiser 2 is a tangerine movie.
>>220913827>>220913831>>220913893>>220913926What? The first one is a shitty cuck story. Pinhead is barely in the movie.
>>220917262>>220916010>We have such sights to show you. It's called: Pizza Party!
>>220918077Where did I say you were wrong for being reminded of Labyrinth when you watched it? I simply said Hellraiser II isn't a fantasy film just because it has some surface level similarities to another fantasy film which is what the original post claimed. Tonally they couldn't be more different from each other. It's a supernatural horror film just like the first one. But hey, good luck convincing anyone else that genres are actually indistinct from one another and are just meaningless marketing ploys used by movie studios:>my favorite romantic comedy? Schindler's List of course! That's how stupid you sound right now, but if you really want to die on that hill and continue making a fool of yourself be my guest.
She's very cute in a movie called Lurking Fearhttps://tubitv.com/movies/460332/lurking-fear
idea: cenobite series with a dozen cenobites and every episode starts with a record scratch freeze frame that leads into a "what's HIS story?" origin flashback>yep, that's me>you might be wondering how I got this giant spike through my face
I can’t believe how many of you think Hellraiser 1 and 2 are the best. The novella was very good, and it delves into Cain and Abel aspects that I believe are the scary part. To me, Deader was as scary as anything. London Underground death cult illicits an investigation by Penhead.
>>220916010how did they fuck that one up lul
>>220913798She walled hard
>>220919023You think? Id say thats pretty ok since i never found her very pretty in the first place
>>220919023Wtf are you talking about? She looks incredible for 60.
>>220918637>Where did I say you were wrong for being reminded of Labyrinth when you watched it?You though it was so wrong that you literally said I (actually another anon) "definitely didn't see the movie" if I think it's reminiscent of Labyrinth. It's right here: >>220916328Are you going to lie about your own posts now you dumb schizo?>good luck convincing anyone else that genres are actually indistinctThey're not "indistinct," they're just made up and don't matter very much except to extreme autists like you. A normal person would have zero objections to Hellraiser 2 being described as "Labyrinth but gory." Good luck convincing people without your particular neurological disability they're not allowed to make comparisons between movies unless a video store employee would have placed them on the same shelf. Now that's a hill to die on.
>>220916495Still funny
>>220919023nigga you gay
>>220919214>(actually another anon) You're still getting upset over the comparison so it really makes no difference.>"definitely didn't see the movie" if I think it's reminiscent of Labyrinth.I said that Hellraiser is a supernatural movie, not a fantasy movie. This was in response to the original post claiming the sequel was somehow not a supernatural horror movie but instead a fantasy movie "Labyrinth but with gore".>they're just made upYeah that's generally how language works. We make up words and attach meaning to them so we can communicate properly.>don't matter very much except to extreme autists like you.Seems like an awful lot of trouble for video stores to have to go through to organize their movies by genre back then just for such a small percentage of customers. Even more impressive that sites like IMDB, Letterboxd, Rotten Tomatoes et. al. only add movie genres to movies because of autists since normies obviously don't care about that silly stuff. I'm sure they wouldn't look at you twice if you recommended them The Godfather if they wanted to watch an action movie.>Good luck convincing peopleYou're absolutely fuming right now. You're really gonna parrot my words right back to me like a kindergartner going "no u" unironically lmao.>not allowed to make comparisons between movies You're putting words in my mouth and getting angry because you have the reading comprehension of a 6th grader. A film's genre doesn't suddenly change because it reminds you of another film from another genre. That's the argument, that has always been the argument since my first post.
>>220915637My only issue with Channard and 2 is how the transformation into a Cenobite is now a near instant transformation via magic torture/surgery and blood transfusion and the later sequels made it even worse by just getting to turn any rando into them. It just cheapens the whole concept of Cenobites. Imo It should be something that happens over years of depravity.
>>220920855Agreed
