Silk. Sometimes feelings are more impactful than perceived technical shortcomings. It had all ingredients to be a modern day Oriental classic but falling short doesn't make it a bad movie. As it is it's generally overhated by people who expected something different.

Two Towers is still the best movie tie-in game, imo. Hilarious how in the pamphlet it was like "Gimli sucks at ranged, but is the best in melee. Legolas is the opposite and Aragorn is in the middle" when the reality was that Gimli's ranged hit so hard he was the best at it even if you only got a couple of shots and Legolas attacked so fast you could hit stun anything so ranged attacks were mostly useless which made Aragorn the worst.

replying to myself - also, i'd rathe look away 2018 better than obsession. Its weird how decent movies now are called masterpieces and better movies in the past were just your regular release to not much fanfare
>>
>>220920189
i respect ATJ as an actor, talented as fk. But holy fck was that lad groomed. His first lead role as a 17 yr old (turned 18 by the time movie came out) and the 42 year olf cunt director with kids and a husband grooms him. Think how easy that was as the director, just a little praise and encouragement and then young kid idolizes you. Anyway he's still married to that old jew and became a step-dad to their kids when he should have been a young man, living his life and meeting his real potential partner. Sad.
>>
>>220920296
Older women have a power on certain young men. My best friend no longer speaks to me because I called out his weird relationship: moving in with a woman ~14 years older than him, who had a child beginning school, while he was in his mid-twenties.

It's like you said: he had a lot more life to live and instead was hitting fast-forward on it, rushing to have a wife and kid (that wasn't his).
All he told me about her was the sex was great and that financially she was not bringing much to the table. Meanwhile he was a college grad that I assume is doing pretty well. She without a doubt took over his brain through his dick to make sure her and her child could have a better life. I don't blame her for it (it's basically survival instinct), I just feel sad that my friend took the bait, but you cannot save someone from themselves; one of life's hardest lessons.

I like it as the 2nd best as well, following Alien. Mostly because of the questions raised.

Androids being indistinguishable from humans (including in ways i don't agree with, hippies)
Ethics of cloning
The usual big corp progress at any cost bad (tired question)

Whereas 3's questions were just kinda flat and boring (didn't need a sci-fi setting), 2 is just slop, and 1 being a simple yet well executed "Are there things out there we cannot comprehend or contest?" up to and including AI/synths.

4's style is also delicious and so incredibly textual.

Side Alien note, check out this AI slop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKTpnFKj2rU

It is a bit overwhelming at first but the style itself - hard to imagine that not being the future of cinema, or moreso i don't want to live in a future where this isn't something to aspire to. Especially in contrast to some of the Ps3 pre-rendered graphic scenes in modern high budget Marvel movies, or Avatar.

Though i won't lie to myself about the chances of that happening.
>>
>>220925734
4 is properly Lovecraftian, which is lacking from Aliens and Alien 3 and the cinematography is brilliant.

3 is a masterpiece compared to modern Riddley and non-Riddley Alien shyte, and even 4 is hundred times better and more watchable. We just had it so good back then that even great movies were received poorly by audiences due to much higher expectations and standards. Sometimes I think about all the fantastic 80s-00s tv shows that got cancelled after a season or two due to low ratings and high expectations from tv networks, and it's such a massive contrast to complete lack of any oversight and standards for modern tv shows. They'll cast any random, ugly bozo and hag who can't act at all and has zero charisma or screen presence, hire writers that can't write and tank a show after show with their bad scripts, hire directors that can't direct. What a shitshow.

I'm of the same opinion in regard to The Lost Lands. It's not a "good" movie by any stretch of the imagination, but thoroughly enjoyable and that's all I need.

They hated it when it came out. Nowadays, I think most people who watch it enjoy it enough.

I enjoy everything by M Night in at least some way, even if almost all of his films are objectively fucking awful.

This was good fun. And actually had some interesting ideas, like the blood of the gods being ichor. The Greeks actually described the gods' blood that way. And the fact that the gods are giants hearkens back to pseudoarcheology, the Bible, and biblical apocrypha. Which makes sense because apparently the script was originally written as an adaptation of Paradise Lost.

This girl is so pretty it makes me want to kill myself.
I liked the Nanny Cam better.
her creepily replacing the role of the mother was done so well.
too bad it fell apart at that clusterfuck of an ending.

there's like 3 movies and they're not that recent. she's kind of a nothing character in them but the CG stuntwork on the main girl looks cool if you're into that sort of thing.

Was flawed but I did like how it handed the "original final girl returns with a vengeance" trend better than most. She spends the rest of her life haunted by his memory, living only for revenge, but he met her once like 30 years ago. He has no reason to remember the one that got away.

Bro What The Fuck!

>Stephen Norrington
>His debut as a director was in the 1994 movie Death Machine but it was directing Blade in 1998 that gained him international status as the film became a box office hit. Despite the film's success, he turned down directing the sequel. He directed League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003) during which he had such a hard time with Sean Connery, the film's star, that he announced he would never direct another film. He later changed his mind, though as of 2022 he has yet to do so.

>In 2018, Blade co-star Stephen Dorff said Norrington was making a film with miniatures at his own house. Dorff thought it would take him another decade to complete it.

This is such a God damn unfathomable waste.

This is rated 4.2/10 which is not too bad if 5/10 was average but it is when in reality 7/10 is average. The content is pretty good and the tension stays for the whole movie because it's barely over 1 hour. If it was reaching to be any longer, it would probably not hold up. I guess the fans of the cartoon disliked this because it's too different, can't see another reason.

Gadget 2 got 3.5/10 and I can see why it got lower ranking and even people making it knew that this one was really on the cheaper end because no one shown on screen returned to the sequel and it was straight to home video. I gotta give it to them that it was clearly closer to what the cartoon was like, but it was just too cheap all around for 2003.
