I've just finished the new Star Wars Maul Shadow Lord season 1 and i have to say this is awesome, if you like the third movie (with Obi-Wan vs Anakin) you'll love this series, the animation is gorgeous, the background are 2D paintings that fit perfectly with these new 3D effects, the fights are so good compared to the newer crap like the sequel, people are dying left and right (unlike in Rebels), the fight against Vader is one whole episode ! the female padawan (Devon) is cute when she's angry, Maul is cool as fuck, Lawson also a cool cop.they've included tons of new graphical effects we didn't have in Clone Wars or Rebels, rays technology, water droplet, fumes/smoke, new fire effects, new (and better) lightsaber effects, better sound design, etc...the music fits perfectly (because this is Maul).just 10/10, i can see it becoming better than Clone Wars easily.and it shows a new period we didn't see on TV, the transition from the Republic to the Empire (technologically and the Empire slowly intruding on planets).seriously, pirate it i don't care, watch this if you're a Star Wars fan, it's worth it !!i've watched the Mandalorian movie last week and it was so fucking bad compared to this.Maul is my favorite character and this show does him justice.WARNING VIDEO SPOILER AHEAD :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPUtRHx1UvI
>>220914961Agreed. This should be the quality standard.
>>220915025must have cost a lot of money but i'm sure Yidsney has enough.just goes to show how far we have fallen if the recent movies sucks so bad compared to an animated show.
>>220915146>must have cost a lot of money I actually don't think so. My guess would be 1 to 2 million per episode. Compare that to shit like Mandalorian and Andor, and this was dirt cheap.
>>220914961For some reason /tv/ is giving this show the cold shoulder. Slightly off-topic, but have you ever bothered reading Luceno's Darth Plagueis? It's even better than Shadow Lord.
>>220914961Would have been better as a live action TV show.
>>220915659Because Maul isn't interesting after getting turned into a yapping jobberSome characters serve a particular purpose and Maul served his in TPMHe should never have been brought back (even within the Prequels)
>>220915715No. The live action ones always fuck up on cast and production design. Animation delivers more consistently and is much cheaper.
Overall I liked the show and hope to see more but I could've done with Vader having some dialogue like in Rebels or the movies (he was portrayed perfectly in Rebels imo and his dialogue was a big part of that). I get what they were going for with the fucking unstoppable silent terminator shit but still.
>>220914961Pacing was breakneck, and plot raised many lore question about the empire's governance
>>220915851maybe he's not speaking yet because he knows who Maul is and so far Maul hasn't recognised him, by his dialogue he knows Vader is not an inquisitor and he suspects him of being a sith apprentice.i think they've never met in Clone Wars so i suppose Vader doesn't really know him either, Ahsoka fought Maul but i don't remember if it was before or after she left the temple.
>>220914961The inquisitors running out was coolFunny how nu wars is better when kennedy left
>>220914961faggot
>>220915942Maul had pieced together that Anakin was going to be Palpatines new apprentice in Clone Wars season 7 (saying that "he has long been groomed for his role"), he also fought Ahsoka in that same scene. It would be safe to assume that after fighting off Vader in the show he probably knows Vader is Palpatines new apprentice and is also Anakin.
>>220914961>people are dying left and right (unlike in Rebels)>unlike in RebelsAre you fucking kidding me, retard.Anyway, Maul SL is fantastic.
>>220915744ok, rabbi
>>220914961breddy gud but the cop and his kid were boringotherwise it was mostly kinoart direction was nice
>>220917082>a cool character getting sent into irrecoverable aura debt due to onions fan demand is great! This is why fans shouldn't be listened to. Same garbage takes as everyone who wanted Luke to have le ebic fight when that would contradict his main act in RotJ (throwing away his lightsaber)Not to say TLJ wasn't garbage, but fans like (You) always have the most retarded priorities
>>220917552Meme word after meme word after meme word. You should feel embarrassed.
>>220915744>>220917552Maul literally caused the entire downfall.
>>220917586>heh you used a meme word now I can ignore your pointsYou aren’t the first to try this, retard
>>220917611And that’s all what was neededHim getting brought back to yap and job completely ruined his character
>>220917676I didn't even reply to you before, moron. Stop writing like a trained monkey.
>>220917770Says the one butthurt about his slop getting reamed and resorting to the most pathetic cop outs
>>220914961Yeah, I'm genuinely surprised how kino it was, it did everything right that nu-wars seemed permanently dead set on doing wrong. It's up there with kino from the best of the legends EU, it reminded me of the Coruscant Nights books (which I only vaguely remember)>>220915715No way. A large part of why the sequel films (and even the live action TV, and non-star wars media lately) sucked was because the higher-ups like KK and JJ thought they were making absolute gold simply because the logistics of arranging a live-action film on that scale required impressive coordination and effort even with unlimited money and time to waste in reshoots. The story was still unfinished dogshit and even the visuals were sloppy compared to this (CGI added after the fact; designs based on lazy and unoriginal concept art). With animation, you can't point the camera and say "shoot", you have to storyboard it before anything happens, and they have more control over the implementation, it's not just "that's the best take we've got". That's why they were able to make it "faster, more intense".
