This show tries to act like it's really smart but it's extremely retarded.
>>
I don’t understand why the cartel wanted him to launder already laundered money
>>
So many scenes that tried to be dramatic but just cracked me up

I thought Skyler from breaking bad was awful then there's Wendy from this show, holy shit she was Skyler on steroids
>>
>>220918189
The daughter has a really strange looking face but I find her extremely attractive
>>
>>220918281
>money launderer
>literally puts money in a washing machine because…
>>
I can't stand Jason Bateman's smug bullshit anymore.
>>
these shows make the cartels seem way more powerful than they actually are

Wendy, I need you to launder 300 million dollars then fly back to Mexico and hand it to me personally
You have one hour
>>
>>220918540
he should have stayed with comedy, he plays great goofballs
>>
>>220918281
the cartel made no sense. they act like they want to kill him, so they give him what they believe is an impossible task so that they can justify killing him and his family for it. but it's the cartel, they can just kill him if they want to, they dont need a reason. they clearly dont give a fuck about the money.
>>
There was a pretty clear moment where they jumped the shark. Seems like the writers an interesting premise but didn’t know what to do with the story.
>>
>>220918628
what was that moment? i started watching season 2 and i could instantly tell that this was going to be one of those shows that they just artificially stretch out for as long as people are willing to watch. i started watching at 1.25x speed and lost interest half way through. season 1 was stupid but season 2 was just pure slop.
>>
>>220918376
that's because she's a ftmtf hylic jewess
>>
While it was never smart, or profound - it was at least interesting in the beginning watching the main character try to weasel his way into living another day. There was tension, and it was interesting to see him wriggle throughout.

Then the show just has this shift where it decides it needs to become Breaking Bad, but with his wife somehow going from a competent sidekick to some kind of Machiavellian superhero who can bite through any hurdle with a conversation. It's so blatant and silly, that when the show was coming out I thought it was a build up to make her the final antagonist.

But yeah, the show has nothing profound to say and loses steam quick. It's insipid and stupid, and at the end just fizzles out like a fart. "Yeah we're rich white people, and rich white people have always done this, viewer!" Cut to black. Barf.
>>
I just pretend its a sequel to arrested development and treat it like a comedy, was okay
>>
>>220918189
Tom Pelphrey is a good actor who should be in every series.
>>
>>220918281
Get off your fucking phone. The cartel guy made it clear it was punishment since that money was Marty's money
>>
>>220918555
This. Cartels in real life are just a bunch of disorganized junkies with guns.

>"we need that man to keep preaching on the water because we deal bags of heroin inside bibles during his sermon, and now we're gonna murder you and your family because he's gonna start preaching inside a church instead"
why couldnt he just deal heroin on the water without a bunch of civilian onlookers?

You know a show is slop when the career criminals all act like the strong silent type with 140 iq wearing that one type of pristine leather jacket they got from the wardrobe apartment who supplies all of these shows for some reason.
>>
>>220918517
It's literally why it's called laundering money, back in the day they would wash the money to make it look old
>>
>>220918851
I completely forgot about this guy and his even more ridiculous wife. Show was retarded.
>>
>>220918818
Not quite. The very rich in Mexico are often cartel-linked and they have managed to buy political protection at the highest levels. The military is the institution most immune to this infiltration which is why juntas are so popular in LATAM. The fantasy that Mexican cartels can operate and kill with impunity in America has spread to the zeitgeist mostly due to Mexican immigrants believing it to be true, and where the cartel does operate in America it is through Mexican immigrants.
>>
>>220918668
I still would though
>>
>>220918189
I hate this "gritty crime drama, but for women!" genre that modern TV studios are so obsessed with. It's always some derivative premise, then they chuck a cheap post production filter on the image and call it a day.

Films did this shit decades ago, and did it far far FAR better.
>>
So do they just move back to Chicago and continue making good money in a government sanction money laundering operation?
>>
remember that fucking weird sexual relationship that Ruth's teenage brother had with some 80 yo granny? yeah that's where i dropped the show
>>
>>220918281
>>220918281
I don't understand why am FBI agent wanted to crustbust some hick in a trailer.

When I dropped the show, actually

>one sub goes in and out once a year
>cartel leader calls Marty
>Marty I want to be an astronaut, I want to land on the Moon. You have get me into the space program and I need to land on the Moon in two days
>three episodes later Marty arranges for the cartel leader to become an astronaut and he lands on the Moon, within the time limit

To be fair, being well read and quoting something literary apropos to the situation would be intelligent.

their son was hot
>>
>>220924457
i dont think he ever did that. they just showed him reading books
>>
>>220924477
Haven't seen past a couple of episodes but it is an effective shorthand. Banshee has the motorcycle gang leader reading freakonomics for some reason.
>>
>>220922112
It was half assed, like how Ruth loves oldschool hip-hop (and like the ending of the series)
>>
>>220918290
But that scene was clearly humorous?
>>
>>220918189
his wife got fucked from behind by some fat old guy, but he himself was never allowed to fuck his wife from behind
many such cases. sad!
>>
>>220924697
He did fuck her from behind and it reminded her of the old guy lmao
>>
>>220924466
Skylar Gaertener is relentlessly handsome
>>
>>220924697
remember that scene when she found the video and was like "there's a number there that tells me you watched it 27 times". no theres no fucking number showing how many times a video has been watched.
>>
>>220918189
This is one of the worst endings of any tv show I've ever seen. And Marty was such a fucking cuck...somehow worse than Walter White.
>>
>>220925662
>>220924779
her behvaiour and him taking her back after this shows me everything i needed to know about the show
get fucked, you whore

>>220925726

absolutely

regardless of how bad the writing gets no other show has the tone of ozark and I miss it dearly, I would say it's great until Petty dies

just turn down the brightness and turn up blue colors on your tv.

better than any breaking bad scene

>Should we go into the witness protection program and rat on the guy who killed my friends? Nah, lets risk the life of all my kids and my wife, move to bumfuck nowhere and start laundering their money
michael bluth is a retard
>>
>>220925662
She was bluffing. She's a genius machiavellian mastermind after all.
>>
>>220925726
how does it end? please tldr everything that happens mid season 2 and onwards.

So Michael Bluth bought a strip club, a diner, a morgue and started production on a church that never got even got off the ground, and still somehow managed to launder 8 million dollars in 4 months max? Literally fucking how?
>>
>marty you better do x thing within y timeframe or i kill you and your family
>good job marty you did x thing...but you're not done just yet...some random drama happens instead
like 10 times through the entire show
>>
>>220925662
when itunes played videos from the player itself there absolutely was a playcount, but that's literally the only scenario I can think of that would have a playcount.
>>
>>220926348
Isn't that usually the MO of organized crime? They keep stringing you along until you don't want to play along and then kill you?
>>
>>220926392
>organised crime
literally every single person does that in the show from opoid junkies to the fbi
>you better bring us the cartel marty before two weeks or you get arrested oh you did it? uh oh he has demands cue drama!
>>
>>220918189
>The Cartel is an omnipotent and omniscient organization that can do anything and find anyone including murdering a dozen American citizens on US soil with impunity
He had 7+ million dollars at the start of the show. He could have relocated his family to about 1000 different places that they'd never be found.
>>
>>220926079
if insisted upon itself was a scene
>>
Del was the most compelling part of this show. I never understood why they killed him off only to bring in Javi who is just a less interesting version of him.
>>
>>220926442
yeah they hamstrung their entire show for a single "omg so unexpected moment" with nothing to back it up with.
>>
>>220924477
To dumb Missouri hicks this is what intelligence looks like. Getting good grades in a shitty public school and reading books
