How down to earth and relatable Mister Wood is.
>>
>>220918250
Who the fuck orders food during the movie? It feels like all the people who work in movies actually hate movies.
>>
>>220918250
Bought by Sony and everything gets worse. It's happened too many times.
>>

When will you wear wigs?

I usually hit up the concession stand a couple times during a long movie if I'm out of food

C'mon man get it together and figure it out already.
>>

If I was an out of work Hollywood millionaire actor I would absolutely use all my free time to fuck with companies over minor grievances.
(Going to Alamo Drafthouse at all is retarded though.)

How do you need to eat multiple times in 3 hours? No wonder Americans are so fat.

some of us are not fat but rich and when we want stale pretzel nuggets and lukewarm cheese product dip we pay $20 for it to be delivered in 17 minutes.

I’ve never been to Alamo drafthouse and never will. It’s marketed as a premium experience. You pay more for the best movie experience possible. Calling them out for cutting corners is completely reasonable

Yeah, you're supposed to save your appetite for after the movie when you hit up a late night joint and discuss the movie with your date or friends

You don't care about missing a few minutes of the movie? What if there's a really important or cool scene while you're buying popcorn?
Even if you don't really miss anything, doesn't it fuck up the vibe and tension and pace and your sense of immersion?
>>
>>220918250
Based Frodo. He never misses.
>>
>>220918783
Ring bearers get a permanent CHR buff.
>>
Theaturants all suck. The food is all preportioned frozen sysco slop and yeah drinking beer during a movie sounds awesome until you have to get up and go up to the projector room and ask them to pause the movie while you rock a piss. Half the time the projectionist is an asshole and won’t give you more than one pee break so then you have to ask the guy in the seat next to you for the QRD on the last four minutes.
>>
>>220919177
That's the only Alamo location I've been to, maybe 3 or 4 times total since whenever they opened. Main reason I go to that one even is it's literally at the subway stop, just go upstairs from the train and you're at the theater. Sometimes I've ordered food (getting refills on drinks is a pain in the ass btw), sometimes I don't at Alamo. I've never been to one of their "movie parties" or whatever they're called but I do like that they have themes for older movies (which is all I ever watch there desu).
>>
>>220918250
He should eat less, disgusting fat fuck.
>>
>>220918250
You know what else he slammed? Hes based af.
>>
>>220918250
He's right you know.
>phone brightness as low as possible to not bother anyone
>have to scroll down for 3 ft to see the whole menu rather than getting all the info at a glance on a piece of paper
>have to tap through multiple screens to finalize the order, pull out your credit card, try to read the numbers in the dark to enter your payment info
>miss 20 minutes of the movie trying to do all this bullshit
>order gets delivered to the people next to you because you scanned the wrong QR code, so you have to sort it out with them and make them miss the movie too
I went for the first time a couple months ago and I'm never going back.
>>
>>220919186
Oldfag here. Me and a carload of friends went on like a triple date to see Jacob’s Ladder. I was dating this really sweet girl that was basically as smart as a really high-functioning German Shepherd (cute as hell, too), and the movie knocked all of us for a loop, so much so that we walked out to the car in silence, just sort of pondering what we’d just seen. We stopped at a Taco Bell and were already deep into discussing the movie when my girlfriend, who’d been silent since we left the theater, suddenly blurted out, “OH MY GOD! HE WAS LIKE DYING THE WHOLE TIME!”

It remains one of my favorite movie experiences.
>>
>>220918250
I really don't get the point of QR code ordering. Let me just tell you what I want and I'll give you money
>le save money
fuck you
>>
>>220919495
>jacob's ladder in theaters

>>
>have to tell my phone what to do instead of ordering the creepy little theater goblins around
Boo!
>>
>>220919543
I just couldn’t do it, man. I’m technically a genius, and even as a kid right out of high school, I could envision what our marriage would be like and how it would slowly drive us apart. I honestly did love her, just enough that I couldn’t subject her to decades of confusion over why I seemed so unhappy. It all worked out, though. She ended up marrying one of my buddies and I married a cutie I met at college.
>>
>>220919736
that's cool, i guess
kind of homosexual to need your woman to be intelligent, though
>>
>>220919186
This. Me and my friends use to go to this pizza restaurant after every movie. Good times…

>>220918333
Every single time I eat anything other than popcorn at movies it fucking sucks. Got ketchup on my shirt from a burger during a movie and one time I got tendies at a fancy "VIP" theater and instead of just having dipping sauce they slathered the sauce all over the tendies themselves which is retarded to begin with but even worse when you're eating them in the dark.
>>
Based non-wig-wearer

You ever seen Close Encounters of the Third Kind? She was a bit like Teri Garr’s character in that. A smart wife who’s content to stay at home, read her books, play her piano, and help raise the kids properly is the way to go if you can swing it. We’re a team instead of it feeling like I’m raising 4 kids.

>>220919863
Oh, I’m not bragging. It’s just bald fact. I *needed* a smart wife to give me direction, to make me focus in on something, otherwise I’d have spun my wheels forever, chasing one interest after another. My parents were no help at all, wonderful people that they otherwise are. Do you know how useless it is to ask someone who enjoys learning more than anything else what it is they want to do with their life? How do you decide what you want to do when you like everything and exhibit the same aptitude for anything you try? I found it sort of paralyzing.
>>

>>220919980
Yep, popcorn and soda for me are standards if I get anything from the snack bar. One of the few times I've been to Alamo I tried their smash burger and fries. Not bad, but overpriced (of course) and hard to eat a burger in the dark. IIRC, they only do popcorn in huge servings meant for more than one person (which I am not) so ... fuck them.

Hard to find these days any businesses that don't replace human workers with technology, from Amazon's fulfillment robots to Waymo's driverless taxis.
>>
going to the movies hasn't been worth it in a very long time but if you do go bring your girlfriend of a female friend with one of those huge purses and stuff it with shit. you can fit a whole bottle of liquor and every snack imaginable in those. the concession stands are a worse rip off than the movie tickets

>>220921873
I wish they would disclose how long the trailers and ads are. I try to wait to get my popcorn so it isn't getting cold during the trailers, but it feels like no matter what I do, I either wind up having to sit through like 10 minutes of them, or I walk in and the movie's already started

I really only see classic films in theaters (I'm lucky to live in a place with multiple independent theaters that show classic films), it wasn't until the roadshow formats of the 1950s where movies got long enough to need intermissions (pic is a notable exception). I'm ok with movies up to 2 hour runtimes without a break but yeah, it would be impossible to sit through all of Seven Samurai or Lawrence of Arabia without a break.

QR codes are a shitty anti-consumer technology that allow companies to change their prices to whatever they want. Always ask for a physical menu. Always say you forgot your phone at home.
>>
>>220924272
Uh, that's actually the subject of the whole thread, anon. Alamo Drafthouse's ordering method requires use of your phone rather than filling out a paper order slip like they used to do.
>>
>>220923825
I refuse to believe this. Regal Unlimited is like, $28 and they give you a big 10% off concessions.
>>
>>220923825

I don't see enough first run movies to join one of these loyalty programs. I do belong to a couple of theater groups' that offer membership for classic films and my ticket discounts are enough to buy snacks and still come out even.
