Cocktail has the whitest soundtrack I've heard in a film, and I do not mean that as a compliment. It's the kind of insipid shit you'd hear spinning in Patrick Bateman's new Harman Kardon stereo music system. The script scorns 80s yuppies while its soundtrack is one that only a yuppie could love. And we're to believe that two hard-bitten working-class bartenders would take the simple act of serving a drink, turn it into a zesty dance routine, and perform it at the bar to the tune of Hippy Hippy Shake.
