>Buffy reboot cancelled>Stargate reboot cancelled>Star Trek dead>Doctor Who dead>Star Wars bombing
>>220932720Only Red Dwarf can save us
>>220932720The time is ripe for a Starlost reboot.
The battle is far from over.
>>220932720>Buffy reboot cancelledIs this a good thing or a bad thing?
>>220932720Oh the Stargate reboot is cancelled already? That's news to me. Yeah I guess I'm happy about that to. I wasn't really a Stargate fan (I liked early SGA and SGU, but that's about it), but it's pretty much always better when things aren't remade or rebooted or sequeled or prequeled or interqueled or any of that shit. Make new IPs, you fucking retarded clowns.>>220932787A very good thing, based on leaks.
>>220932811>Oh the Stargate reboot is cancelled already? That's news to me. Yeah I guess I'm happy about that to.It's "cancelled" in the sense that the studio bosses weren't happy at the lack of diverse hominids and girlboss moments and forced everything back to square one. They're still working on rebooting it.
>you will live to see the death of everything gen x loved
>>220932720>X-Files status?
>>220932787>none of the original writers or producers>ugly busted up SMG returning as Buffyobviously it was going to suck
>>220932895The X-Files already got ruined with repeated reunion seasons.
>>220932843What even happens when the boomers are all dead and Gen X media is dead. Does basic TV and cable just become dead static?
>>220932895>X-Files status?Its getting a black reboot
>>220933470>Black male>Named Ryan Coongler
>>220933352>What even happens when the boomers are all dead and Gen X media is dead. Does basic TV and cable just become dead static?Liminal airspaces.
>>220933352>Does basic TV and cable just become dead static? Most basic cable networks are just one show repeated for 24 hours broken up by pharmaceutical ads. If they banned ads for prescription drugs in the U.S. like other countries, broadcast television would be dead in a year.
>>220933352>Does basic TV and cable just become dead static?Television, that particular form of entertainment did not last much beyond the year 2040.
>>220932720the mcu will also be dead once doomsday under performs
>>220932720Not really. Stargate sequel cancelled in favor of a woke reboot or severely cucked sequel.
>>220933470the malcolm x files
>>220932720this picture should be in the dictionary next to the word millennial
>>220933470>on HuluWe need TV shows on TV. 26 episodes throughout the school year. Let people have something to watch instead of "event" shows every 2-3 years.
>>220932843>You will get to see everything gen X loved finally being allowed to die Everyone should be happy about this
>>220933672I genuinely think that's what's going to break Disney. They can't even conceive of what a failure that's going to be. As much as The Acolyte and Mando/Grogu shocked them, Doomsday will be so much worse. Not only because of how much money they've pissed away on it, but the scale of how much the MCU has fallen.
>>220932787Probably a good thing, even though I like SMG a lot. There are a few ways I think a Buffy sequel could work, but without the original writers and producers--or, for that matter, the cast--I don't think it would land. I think people are overreacting about the pilot being shitty (Hulu clearly fucked up on their end too) but it's hard to make a show like Buffy now. 10 episodes every 2 or 3 years just wouldn't work, even if we imagine they found gold with the new cast.
>>220932843TOTAL LEAD BRAIN DEAD
>>220933854We only had high episode counts in the past so networks could buy the syndication rights and air one or two episodes nightly. Streaming trained people to expect sky high production values. A high episode count, high production value streaming show isn’t possible.
>>220932787It's a good thing because it doesn't retroactively sour opinions on the original. There was zero percent chance it was going to be good or even passable.
>>220936832>doesn't retroactively sour opinions on the originalI don't think that would have happened.
Whatever happened to the Firefly reboot? I assume everyone lost interest when it turned out to be an animated series
>>220937396The actors are too old and there’s not much lore to work with. If they were going to reboot the series it should have been 15 years ago with a fresh cast.
>>220932720The only way to protect the lore is ensure it never gets made. Lore status=protected
>>220932843Good! They fucked us over by voting overwhelmingly for the orange man
Now morons will go see gay ass marvel again for some stupid fucking reason (they're faggots)
>>220932842Will Jackson be a woman or will Sha'uri ghost him? Will Goa'uld be the good guys all along, that fight Patriarchy? Will the symbols replaced by genders?
>>220933352It's crazy how much Millenials watch more TV and Netflix than Gen X. They don't even download cars.
>>220937929DCfags always be seethin. They're 3x Avengers films with a Spider-Man 4 lead in. Sure, it's a marketing scheme but it's worked before. DC is dead and will never sniff a billy ever again. Seethe no more. It's over.
>>220936800Shows like TNG and DS9 had insane production value, and 26 episodes a season. What they didn't do was hire big movie stars and put up with their bullshit. If any actor got uppity (or just their agent) they got kicked off the show.
>>220933672>>220935442good thing it won't
>>220932911SMG got in superb shape for the reboot. She looks really good now. Even her face looks better now that she's /fit/.The reboot sounded like shit though. Both versions, the original with almost no SMG in it and the reworked version too.
>>220932720I'm surprised they never tried to reboot Firefly or make a sequel.
>>220938461They did. In animated form. But Firefly was already Whedon's hack of the tv show Starhunter. Even the movie Serenity is based on an episode of Starhunter.Whedon was always a hack stealing from low-budget Canadian shows.
>>220936800You can have expensive shows and lots of episodes, and consistently release a new season every year. You just can't do those things while also letting your actors work in movies, and while there's too many other shows being made at the same time to split up the potential audience a thousand ways. They all scrambled to have lots of "content" for all their individual streaming services because they thought they could all be Netflix and Hulu and somehow all get a >50% market share. But all that did was make every show have an audience of thousands instead of millions. When there were basically 6 channels, plus like 3 or 4 cable channels, and everything was stuck on linear broadcast, and there was no competition from foreign media (anime), YouTube, Twitch, video games, TikTok, doom scrolling on Twitter, etc., you could spend outrageous sums on a season of TV. And they did. But nobody batted an eye because the audience had nowhere else to go and advertisements still worked.
