In hindsight, was it actually good? Or was just another Robocop copycat for zoomers?
>>
It wasn't good.

Chappie was pretty crappy
>>
>>220933740
I liked it. Haven't seen any of his other flicks.
>>

>In hindsight, was it actually good
it was a fun movie.
>Or was just another Robocop copycat
it had nothing to do with Robocop
>>
>>220933782
District 9 is his only legit good movie.
>>
>>220933740
Virtually every new movie coming out is some sort of copycat for zoomers. Can you imagine a zoomer actually watching Robocop. I can already hear the "THIS IS OOOOOOOLD" whining. It's the exact same fucking thing. There is nothing new under the sun and there never will be.
>>
>>220933834
real bossbaby vibes here
>>
>>220933809
this is District 9 but the aliens are just blacks, no veneer of scifi fantasy just blacks are animals, use robots to keep them in line
>>
The punk rockers were incredibly cringe. I guess that's what euro-based cultures are like, though, about 2-3 decades behind the US.
>>
>>220933740
I liked the robot, i hated the wiggers in it.
>>
>>220933969
>I guess that's what euro-based cultures are like, though, about 2-3 decades behind the US.
unironically they're a full 10-15 years culturally behind the US.
was playing a game with a heavy EU/Scandinavian playerbase recently and they spam the n word like we did in 2005 xbox live shit.
even coming from the halo 2 days of xbox live, it's kinda jarring re-living that in current year. but mostly it just felt really pathetic knowing these guys are late 20s early 30s acting like we did when we were 13.

This movie makes me wish I had studied Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.

Blomkamp's 2 biggest problem has always been writing and casting
>>
Die Antwoord were way more interesting and entertaining than any of the scenes with Dev Patel, overall not that great of a movie, some enjoyable parts. Hugh Jackman and Signorney Weaver felt wasted in this movie

There's good and there's not good.

This is not good.
>>
>>220933740
I'm not about to rewatch it and find out, but I don't remember it being any better or worse than District 9 or Elysium and both of those have double or triple the ratings

They're basically the same movie
>>
>>220934883
The webm with die anterwood playing while the south African police take down a truck is pure kino.
>>
Hugh Jackman is the villain in this. How did that not make it a hit.
>>
>>220933740
I liked it, they even had a metal gear in it from a scrapped MGS movie
>>
>>220933740
It was terrible, but the robot design and animation were one of the best, so it's worth checking it out just for that.
>>
>>220934125
I still remember going back to the midwest a few years ago and seeing hot-topic-style goth teenagers in a mostly closed up mall. Shit teleported me back to 2006.

It had a good concept and overall the premise was enjoyable and the overarching story pleasant and thematically well put together. Execution wise though, I found the inclusion of Die Antwood as unnecessary and obnoxious, I found a few of the more particular plot elements poorly explained or thought out. The conclusion especially.

It certainly wasn't a Robocop copy of any sort, it steers in a completely different direction in its plot. The only real comparison I can make is in the superficial design of one of the robots and the fact that Human-robot hybrids are tangentially touched on. Other than that I can't see any similarities.

District 9 and Elysium are good imo.

People don't like Elysium because it's a bit on the nose with the social commentary but, meh. They can shit an egg. Everything is preaching something, why not "rich people are dbags"?

Elysium especially had some gnarly concept art and the finished product was really nice looking too.
>>
>>220937707
Elysium was awesome.
Change my mind.

I don't want to though.

It was great, one of the best AI/robot movies. But in case you don't know, there aren't many.
