One of the things I would do with a big vertical structure like that would be to install gravity batteries down the center. You can hook it up to just a regular ass windmill to winch the weights up, and then when you want to draw power you release one of the weights that turns a flywheel for your generator. You can also eek some more energy out if you put your water cistern up top, and whenever it runs down the pipes to be used you can use that to spin a turbine.

I would not be prioritizing cinephilia or choosing who I live with based off of cinephilia. If a weird genie or something told me I could assemble a survivor band based on film preference alone, I'd probably go for war history movie guys, it feels like I'm more likely to keep surviving alongside a guy who digs Das Boot instead of an A24head.
