As in, PBS or CBS have these sunday morning talk shows on policy that's probably too far above most people. He cracks a few jokes, but it's always been political.These other Late Nite shows were always meant to be discussion and comedy shows, and they pivoted since 2015 (god damn 11 years ago) to being nonstop complain about Trump shows. Thus they're failing - whining about Trump is stale and not interesting or entertaining. and feels like they're trying to push an agenda.Maher has actual consesrvatives and opponents on and they debate things. Maher critiques a lot of modern "woke" ideas. It doesn't feel like he or the show is trying to hammer home only one view point. Maher has his, and his guests have their own. It's more open like that. Colbert or Kimmel doing a big moinologue and song and dance telling me how bad Trump is quite a different beast.
I liked the old talk show format better - no large table around people. Also he had women on he was banging, like god forbid Ann Coulter (imagine them screwing?) or that Evangelical girl who claimed she was a witch.
