The Motion Picture was actually like a (good) Star Trek episode just with the time allotment, budget, and awesome director of a movie. Specifically a TOS episode as that was what there was so far (TAS is just a footnote). That's all to say that by extension, it was actually a good *science fiction* movie. I like Star Trek because I like sci-fi. You can go on an autismo sperg rant about that, but for me, Star Trek is sci-fi, and good sci-fi at that. So for me, it's The Motion Picture. The best Star Trek movie.

It's definitely in the top 2.
There's a debate to be had about The Motion Picture and honestly Into Darkness.
One of those 3 is the best, and I haven't decided which I most prefer.
