The film that revealed Nolan is a pseud.
One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Not trolling.
>>220937596A Boys thread died for this
Nope it's arguably his 2nd best film behind Memento. Nolan's films post Inception especially Interstellar and Tenet are the epitome of high budget fart sniffing pseudo intellectual garbage
>>220937596I like this movie. Kinda bumping, but would write a longer post.
>>220937674If he'd only farted in interstellar, his quantum braap would have penetrated the wall and saved humanity. Heisenberg's unshartinty principle.
>>220937596It was a fun concept. Having everything go just right at multiple layers of consciousness was a huge ask of the audiences patience though
>>220937596Always loved this movie. Generally hate the rest of Nolans films though.
>>220937596he fucked up his own lore with the kicks at the end of this. very sloppy work. memento and prestige are his only good films.
Inception does have something "off" about itTakes itself very seriously and is kind of depressive in a way that doesn't seem very healthy, with its handling of the suicidal character. That said, taking it as a neo-noir sci-fi movie it's pretty comfy in places.
Part of Nolan's "films about the medium of film" series. In this case, film making itself so arguably there are too many in-jokes about Producers having hotel corridor meetings (that turn into fights, hahaha) and the Auteur Director risking "development hell" slow time and his obsessions beginning to overshadow the work and suchlike. The Production Designer, the Financier, the Actor etc. His fundamental interest is how a fundamentally linear real-time medium can create a non-linear experience, in this case obviously the faux simultaneity of the heist genre.I find it strange a popcorn director is so often misunderstood, not that understanding him necessarily improves the perceived quality of his work. The Prestige in particular seems to confuse people, god knows how. Short of cutting in a sequence of me, Christopher Nolan, talking to the viewer and saying "You know filmmakers lie to you constantly don't you? Its called the suspension of disbelief. I repeat - I'm quite the liar and go to incredible lengths to make it seem like stuff happened that really didn't that you probably wouldn't believe, get ready for a rug pull that won't really fit together because, as I keep saying, I'm a massive liar" I'm not sure what else he can do.
>>220937596It’s basically a rip off of neuromancer
what means psood
>>220939656How is it a rip-off of Neuromancer? I see zero connection.
>>220939656Scrooge McDuck you mean.
Why can't studios recreate another Nolan? A director with actual brand recognition for normies. Nolan had like a deal somehow where he would make a hit for the studio in Batman and then they'd allow him to make something he wanted to make. Do other directors just not have the stuff? My guess is too many directors WERE given the opportunity and fumbled it leading to studios being more risk adverse and Nolan is just a relic surviving from an older time. I think it's also a symptom of budgets being out of control. When Nolan was allowed to make his own flick, The Prestige only had a budget of 40 mil so it didn't need to make 500+ mil to be a success.
James> Eames
>>220937596It's a fun movie. It's not that serious.
>>220939687The premise and story structure are almost identical. Protagonist is a skilled thief that operates in a subconscious reality. Hired by a shady benefactor traveling across the world to assemble a heist team. Troubled by memories of a failed romance which both culminate in a nearly identical beach scene where the protagonist chooses to let go of the past to escape being trapped in a permanent void. It’s a rip
>>220937622Checked and totally agree.Watcher it twice. Complete garbage.
