It's a solid thriller, but doesn't really deserve it's reputation as a "real" classic. Lecter is a capeshit villain just like The Joker.

Nah it's good. Dragon Dragon was also good. Hannibal sucked apart from Gary Oldman's impressive makeup.

It's on par with The Fugitive, in my opinion. A perfectly acceptable 90s thriller. I really don't understand why so many consider it to be a particularly important movie or anything related to horror.
