The thing that bothered me most about adult Bobby was how it seemed like the writers could not fully commit to either having him age relative to the original seasons (timeline discrepancies aside), as in, he'd be a millennial in his mid/late 30s, or go with a floating timeline to have him be a zoomer. The end result feels like they tried to have both, with him running a restaurant, having awkward, older-guy type interactions with college kids, and just looking physically older lining up with a millennial characterization, but also making him explicitly in his early 20s and having him sometimes act as such, giving that early 20s naivete. It almost seems like they'd originally planned for him to be a full-on millennial restaurant owner, but realized that making him canonically a mid-zoomer would resonate better with the YouTube crowd who got into the show in the early 2020s, so they shifted him to that age range without fully rewriting the character.That said, yeah, the original Bobby could go either way, either finding his cooking niche and getting lucky with it and making it big, or winding up in his 30s, still living with his parents, and working in a Chili's kitchen.
