>the virgin Kane Parsons VS >the chad David Lynchgo
>>220939866Boomers dont understand anything about the modern world
>>220939866Lynch signed the Polanski petition. Kane Parsons didn't. Kane wins.
>>220939895welcome to the final stage of lynch AI cope. youre almost there
>>220939895They think LLMs are fucking magic. In reality it's the entire internet being scraped, churned into an inferior product, and sold back to people at a premium. The consequences hasn't just been the product large companies are trying to force everyone on to it's the constant disruption of the Internet itself. Tencent recently was caught DDOSing every site to scrap information and they don't resepct any robot.txt settings.
>>220939955I don't even like lynch. I think hes creative and all but its not my thing
>>220939955NTA but it's true though. Lynch was a boomer with substantial wealth and there was nobody threatening his job security, so he could afford to have opinions about AI that didn't directly affect his livelihood.
>>220939866David Lynch was the last American artist and one of the few people who could have used generative AI in new, creative ways to further art as a whole, as he did with new technologies throughout his career99.9999999 of people will just use it to make slop, flooding the collective conscience and drowning out even the few small nuggets of creativity that can come from itThere's no contradiction here. David Lynch was simply the exception to every rule.
>>220939978front page of reddit is that way. you zoomers are so jaded you scoff and stuff your ears to deny the obvious production power of AI which is actually 'magical' in a basic way. inventing something from nothing. you start with an idea and receive an image. that's magic, compared to life as we knew it. you talk to a robot and get answers to your questions. that's sci fi. this is literally what your parents grew up reading stories about. i feel bad for zoomies who've bought into the Anti AI bandwagon for clout. its like denying fire or something
>>220940034thats the cope, the reality is he was unbound by your petty plebian concerns of finances and le water use and was able to see it purely for the creative possibilities
>>220939866David... easy on the smokes pal..
>I hate AI, it's not original whatsoever>said the faggot who became rich from stealing a 4chan conceptThese retards should at least develop some sort of self awareness.
>>220940109>denying ai for cloutIt will take all jobs, and to the extent its really excellently good for creativity, everyone will watch their individualized 4k kinos and there will be no societywide discussion of film any longer.
>if you give a retard a calculator, he's going to try to turn the tv on with itt. Albert Einstein, ai generated
>>220939866>supports digital cameras>supports cgi slop>supports ai slopbased david the king of slop
good thing lynch died before he embarrassed his legacy fully
>>220940227its funny people say that and its probably true but personally since embracing AI i made a little shitpost video meme page and it got popular and some rich client found me to make his ai show and since I personally made over 30k, faster money than any other job in my life. thinking of moving to NY w the profits. sounds fake but I swear. it will put the CGI people out of work but if you're a video creator/editor it's kind of a gold rushthe stratifying effect on media will be interesting to see with everyone making their own custom shit, you can already see it happening in pron
>>220939866he self reported on not knowing how it works
Aren't you ashamed of using poor David Lynch to market your fraud ass technology, just because he was vaguely interested in it before he could seriously work with it and realize just how much of a scam it is?
>>220939895AI is cool to make bizarre and whacky shit you couldn't come up with imo. Anything where AI goes full schizo is kino.
>>220941220
>>220939866If I could snap my fingers and make this plagiarizing hack disappear forever I would too.
>>220941368Well, Miyazaki is still alive, someone can just go and ask him.
>>220939866>doesn't know how to program>doesn't know any 3d math>just knows how to use a program that smart people madeHe's by definition a blub. Just another guy somewhere one abstraction hierarchy. He's no better than AI bros
>>220939866Lynch never said any of that shit about AI. Suck deep sukdip.
>I hate generative AI>makes a movie that’s just ripping off an old meme but adding a cgi black piratelol
>>220939866Young people are mortified of being ostracized so they're always maneuvering to be on the "right side of things". They will generally support anything that has a consensus and where their position is backed in online circles.Meanwhile David Lynch was at a point where he can speak his mind plainly and suck up to noone.I'd rather trust his take than that of some trendchasing zoomer.
>>220939866Lynch said all of that shit about AI. Suck deep Jebediah
>>220939866Lynch understands the struggle of not having 11 producers make your films for you (unlike Gayne Fartsons). AI levels the playing field.
>>220939866Hes not wrong though. The problem with AI isnt what most people make it out to be. Its that its incredibly hard to get it to do exactly what you want. The amount of time and money that you'd need to get the exact vision out of the scene you'd want would exceed the costs of actors and workers that you'd need to do it normally
>>220941408>Just another guy somewhere one abstraction hierarchy. If you could lower your tone when talking to us AI bros.
>>220941461Will Smith eating spaghetti was 3 years ago.
If he had skill in one traditional artform like painting or something that might be a different matter. But it's he's basically the equivalent of a photobasher with no drawing skills lamenting the death of photoshop. Nobody gives two shits. Does he' think he's cool because blender has a steeper learning curve? Well it's nothing compared to procedurally generating everything in shaders like a Inigo Quilez. He's just another toolmonkey who has no idea what blender abstracts away. I imagine the Dogme 95 guys disdain Parsons as much as he disdains AI users.
There's this gradient of talented artists where the more skilled they are at their craft, the more they embrace AI, because it means they don't have to talk to people as much.
>>220940571You think i could achieve that? Any advice?
>>220941461The "problem" is that it's still predominantly used by no-talent amateurs and thirdies because real artists think they're so above it.Like anything else it's a tool, except with an extremely low barrier of entry.Any intelligent person is sitting on the sidelines waiting for the whole thing to mature into a form that can be actually used for anything other than novelties.David Lynch supported it because even in this nascent stage it still aligned with his surreal imagery. Even in The Return special effects Lynch used were deliberately janky to add to the surreal tone of his work, so naturally he thought it's the coolest shit ever. But that's just one way of many it can be used, just like any other tool in a filmmakers repertoire. At the end of the day any kind of "real" artist needs to have something to say. And currently most people using AI are just testing its capabilities, not actually doing anything with a specific purpose. It's essentially just stress testing.
>>220941569Here's Dogme 95.Parsons isn't even wrong, he just thinks he's exempt from his own logic. He doesn't know how to draw. He doesn't know how to shade. He doesn't even know basic perspective, proportions, or anatomy. Blender takes care of all of those messy details for him. He doesnt know the technical side of anything under the hood either. He doesn't know the physics of light or how to program shaders. He has physically based rendering in a nice little drag and drop node based UI. All of his self-taught "skills" can be torrented from a udemy course. He doesn't have to go out and hold an audition for human actors when he made his web series. He didn't to travel around and find real physical locations or wait for the right time of day for the perfect lighting. Just with a snap of his fingers he can make it in CGI or postprocessing. It really ruins the integrity of real artists that a hack like him can cheat his way to a viral web series don't you think?
>>220941682somewhat related, it's like how there's also a ton of nonpolitical or right-wing artists, but again, they don't have to talk to people as much nor are they open about it. they just get work done and don't waste time chitchatting
>>220941720i lucked out by making a meme page focusing on one musical figure then got popular via reshares in the fan community, some internet humor shitpost irony ragebait type stuff. I didnt actually monetize the page or the vids themselves which i've heard other AI ppl have had success with, I just got big enough [6k followers] where people started DMing me and this one old guy turned out to be legit, basically making a AI curb show about his life using his friends. I dont know how you'd replicate what I did which is why it's so awesome but overall I'd say familiarize yourself with the workflows and tools, they're often changing. you can go local if youre a tech guy or use the paid credit sites to get access to seedance 2. it's about 7 bucks a gen but get surprisingly good results
>11m>70k likesThis guy's getting ratio'd hard right?
>>220939866If you're making the movie on a telephone, you will never in a trillion years experience making the film. You'll think you have experienced it, but you'll be cheated. It's such a sadness, that you think you've generated a film, on your fucking telephone. Get real.
>>220941828>Even in The Return special effectsfunny, i've made this comparison too. s3 effects looked like early janky AI glitched outputs. some people see them and go wtf looks like shit, others laugh and accept its a intentionally warped vision
>>220941967What language do you think in?
a lot of directors don't know anything about the details of method acting or cinematography and lens selection either. They literally prooompt people who do.The only thing they bring to the table is vision and taste.
>>220941954I have the Return Youtube Dislike add-on>4k dislikes
>>220942056Sometimes not even that.
Anyone who followed closely Lynch's work knew he'd be pro-AI.
wasn't he a teenager during covid? it's not like he was inspired to make backrooms because he became jaded after 20 years of soul crushing white collar cubicle work. You can say there's a causal disconnect between him and his art the same way there is when AI generates something without lived experience. Just another guy raised on simulacra.
>>220942240The backrooms have nothing to do with "soul crushing white collar cubicle work". Don't speak on things you know nothing about.
