To be quite honest, I think most of the Resident Evil adaptations have understood that the games are quite corny. The Netflix adaptation for example, had a fairly decent grasp of how dumb some of this shit is. But there's this issue where fans of the games really want an elevated adaptation, and to complicate matters camp/corny tone is a hard needle to thread.
