Uhhhh.... It sucked. Case closed.

the time travel. Never put time travel in a sci fi story unless it's specifically about time travel
>>
Nothing. It’s a character drama that you got confused and thought was sci-fi
>>
>>220963851
The time travel was done relatively well, better than most series explicitly about time travel. Paradoxes were handled intelligently and we got to re live previous seasons— ending in Lafleur kino. They’d already jumped the shark moving the island too.
>>
>>220962685
nothing. and the ending was good.
and if you think they were dead the entire show, you are literally retarded.
>>
>>220962685
The story stars as a mystery box character centric
People get baited into great characters and drama
In s3 the fuel tank is empty because every important chara has been explored
So you go plot centric, with a final deadline
The two circles of character drama vs scifi plot don't fully overlap
So a part of the fans is disappointed by default
The ending was too much for normies, their confusion led to hate

It's personally one of my fav series ever tho.
In my last rewatch I just skipped most of the flash sideways because they are indeed fillers to maintain the illusion (ex sun & Jin and sahid storylines are not only fillers but boring on rewatch 'once you know').
>>
>>220962685
the writers strike fucked up some stuff in the middle of the show. same with the 2008 crash iirc

nah fuck it nothing went wrong. fucking love LOST

I didn't answer anything we really wanted answers for.
It literally ends with "we all died at the end, off screen, after everyone leaves island, but we all met up in heaven to cross over at the same time"

what the fuck was that?

On rewatch I just think Season 6 is so unnecessary, a lot of is is good but dude how many of the same beats do you need to hit. The show ends up as the best adventure story ever that ends as the worlds longest funeral. I think I would have made S6 a shortened season maybe five episodes.

i wish they kept the cinematography style of the first season through the whole thing
season 1 looks so fucking beautiful but it devolved into a regular looking TV show style as it goes along after that, i guess for budget/time reasons

>DURRR MAN GO INTO CAVE AND BECOME SMOKE MONSTER?

The audience was too dumb to understand what the writers intended.

The man in black became the smoke monster because of JACOB’S evil, not his own. Jacob tried murdering his brother in retaliation for their mother’s accidental death.

In so doing, he started the cycle of violence and retribution. He started evil when he could have stopped it with mercy. Jacob is the source of evil.

That’s why he’s so sad and guilty. That’s why he brings people to the island to learn how to do the right thing. Because he failed his own test thousands of years ago.

I don’t think a single person picked up on this.
>>

is jack a smoke monster now?

Smokey literally stabbed her. But you’re right about the rest, it is all because of Jacob’s mistake.

No, he just drank from the river and pulled the plug. Thats not how you become a smoke monster. Only Mother and MIB were smoke monsters.

Imagine how good Lost and Battlestar Galactica both would have been if they had been planned out like Babylon 5 or Tolkiens books.
>>
>>220972153
that's not interesting at all what the fuck
>>
>>220963427
This.

Jar Jar Abrams and his mystery box slop draw people in, but ultimately they are left bitter and disappointed because he has no clue how to solve his own mystery. His shit is toxic and should forever be avoided. He will go down in history as the person responsible for destroying both Star Trek and Star Wars.

>The time travel was done relatively well,
For an entire season all you heard was "whatefver happened, happened" in that you can't change the past. Then at the end it was all "akstually we're the variables and CAN change the past" when the plot needed it.
>>
They had a fantastic hook with S3's ending for 2 or so seasons to conclude things. S4 is when things went to shit.
>>
>>220974611
I don't remember a single instance where they changed the past/future.
The entire pg of Faraday hammers that point
Desmond is the only that can sense the possibilities, but even he can't change a thing. And that was the whole point of how Charlie died
The whole plot with Faraday and Desmond meeting in the past at Oxford changes nothing, they are just remembering stuff at different points in time

Dunno you tell me
>>
>>220974740
4 was better than 3
>>
>>220974611
But they never did change the past.
>>
>>220974611
What are you talking about? The one time they tried with the nuke and ended up causing the incident which caused the Swan to be built which then crashed their plane (ignoring the Jacob of it all)
>>
>>220974880
So, no
>>
>>220974611
faraday was tragically wrong, he was killed by his own mom who knew all along the song he birthed would end up being killed by her. it's super ironic that it happens immediately after his variable theory.

the one thing that can fuck with time is desmond, but he never really changes anything important. like faraday's mom says shit self correccts anyway.

Not really, they wanted to make 4 seasons but ABC made them make 6. That's why there's a drop in quality with seasons 4 and 5
>>
>>220962685
>S1: we need to hunt boars to survive
>S4: we need to blow a nuke in order to reset our time traveling timeline
>>
>>220975055
Season 4 got fucked by the writer's strike and only produced half the episodes and stories they had planned.
>>
>>220975162
shouldn't that be a good thing, when they are forced to cut on the clutter and focus just on the main plotline?
oh that's right, there was never a predetermined main plotline, just mystery boxes full of clutter
>>
>>220975162
they never had a story planned anon.
>>
>>220975162
True
>>
>>220975904
They had a season planned. All the weirdos from the freighter were going to get their own episodes along with the dog.
>>
>>220975281
It's a TV show not the riddle of life.
>>
>>220973153
JJ left the show like 10 episodes into S1 and was barely involved after that, i don't know why people always act like he's the reason it turned out the way it did
it was cuse, lindelof and to an extent ABC who spent literally years 2-more-weeksing and trust-the-planning the audience
>>
>>220962685
the plane exploded
>>
>>220976671
he was only involved in the day-to-day running of the show during the making of the pilot, damon lindelof was the sole showrunner until he brought in carlton cuse to help mid-season 1
but abrams was still involved in a limited capacity all the way through, not as a showrunner but as the head of bad robot, and a creative consultant, he'd be there during the writers camps before each season when they were breaking the story
he also wrote the season 3 opener with damon

>>
>>220962685
season 6. too much time spent on retroactively shoehorning in the mythology to try to explain stuff while also only explaining stuff to the degree of saying that they explained things. like you solve a previous problem by saying jacob willed it or that's how the island works without ever explaining jacob or the island outside of vague analogies. it's an exercise in caving to the audience by managing expectations with mysteries when the show was never directly ever about learning the truth
it all ends up caught in an awful middle ground of trying to pretend it's the cap stone of a planned, interconnected mythology while also leaving room for the emotional pay off thematic ambiguity

Not only was the entire Dharma Initiative somehow on the island at the same time, the entire Dharma Initiative was apparently forty something people
Forty something people(mostly scientists, janitors, and at least ten kids) were responsible for:
>building an entire suburban american style town with modern construction techniques and styles, air conditioning, electricity, hot and cold running water, full kitchens, secret passages, etc
>building a dozenish highly sophisticated research facilities all over the island, including several deep underground bunker complexes, radio towers, and two large structures that were UNDERWATER
>building a several mile long high tech magnetic fence that melts people's brains
>importing several vans and building roads all over the island to sustain them
>importing and maintaining large livestock populations
>importing and caring for incredibly needy live animals like dolphins and polar bears
>building shit like a teleportation machine and a giant magnet capable of destroying the earth
>importing sophisticated high tech medical devices like MRI and X-ray machines
>regularly delivering care packages via airdrop(they never explained why these kept coming and who was responsible btw)
>obtaining and shipping absolute fucktons of highly controlled weaponry like machineguns, grenades, nerve gas, and c4
>>220977060
There's a difference between losing a bomb by accidentally dropping it in the ocean and losing a bomb by allowing it to be captured by a couple dozen poorly armed jungle dwelling terrorists confined to a single island and not retaliating.

Yes because they keep getting paid and never knew where it was going in the first place. Ben and Hugo shut the place down in the epilogue.
