Isn't the appeal of IMAX the extra 35mm that can fit even more details into the film? Isn't that the point of the extra large screen?
This is just showcasing different aspect ratios, and that's something Nolan has to actively choose to do in his framing, it's not like he can put any relevant shit in that extra space without fucking over the people watching in normal theaters, and they can't do an exclusive IMAX theatrical run because there's not enough theaters to make that profitable.
This shit was made in 1970, what are we doing here?
