Yeah this movie was kino, I saw it with my ex, I was chuckling through the entire thing and she didn't laugh once, and at the end I asked her what she thought and she said she didn't like that the racist guy turned out to be her father.... like okay if that's what you got out of it sure. She definitely was a liberal considering she had a lesbian sister and her roommate got mad at someone for saying retard in front of her cause she had a retarded uncle as well as a gay one, and she had a pride flag plushie.

I also watched it with some groypette I was friends with online before she went completely psycho. She enjoyed it a lot more. I feel like you have to be terminally political to enjoy this movie, even though ironically it isn't actually that political nor does it really have a political message.

Great film, but I wish it was an actual adaptation of Vineland. One of the few Pynchon novels that can be somewhat easily filmable, and the only such novel before he went 100% pulp, but now PTA has ruined anyone else's chance to adapt it.
It's also probably technically in the bottom half of PTA's filmog. It's very hard to surpass the run from PDL to TPT. I am extremely pleased he got Licorice Pizza out of his system and went back to actual kino, that said.
