Why didnt he just ignore the school defecit like his african american predecessors?
>>220980988Wouldn't know, I always skip Carcetti scenes because I don't give a flying fuck
>>220980988it would fuck up his political career.
>>220980988He was a big mayor...
Did he win at the end or was it implied he was going to have a spectacular crash? I haven't watched season 5 since it came out because it was so bad. All I remember was nearly every character being a fucking retard.
>>220981114He stopped giving a shit about the city because he was going to run for governor or Senate.
>>220981114The other Anon is half wrong. The series ending montage is explicit that Carcetti became Governor.
No, no way! After everything he did to throw bane out of the plane, now you want him to pretty up the man's parachute???
>>220981176So he won. Was that David Simon trying to say that white politicians can be spectacular fuck ups and still attain high positions while black politicians are held to a much higher standard in the public eye?
>>220981336The show can be specific to Maryland on some points. In this instance, a White guy who managed to get elected Mayor of Baltimore is a strong contender for Governor. A black guy elected Mayor of Baltimore is just Tuesday.
>>220981336Carcetti wasn't really a fuck up. Dude was smart and knew how to play the game. Baltimore is just a shit show. You'd need to be Jesus to seriously fix anything in that city
>>220980988Because children are future voters?
>>220981114Carcetti becomes governor, Rawls becomes chief of state police or some shit and Valchek becomes commisioner. I either can't remember who became mayor or they didn't show it, most likely it was Nerese.
It always rubbed me the wrong way the way they pronounce his name. If we read it the way it’s written, it should be pronounced Karchetti rather than Karketti. I was always surprised they had no one realizing such a dumb mistake.>t. Paisan
>>220980988it was a big deficit
>>220982316for you
>>220981336no, the point is that those adept/ambitious at politics and administration, without significant skeletons in their closet, will naturally move on from smaller concerns like the singular city of Baltimore and thus it implicitly argues that smaller concerns like Baltimore will retain similar problems over time as true leaders/innovators naturally move on
>>220984097Basically this. Anyone capable of fixing Baltimore knows that Baltimore is unfixable without exterminating all the blacks and greens and becoming an all-white capitalist and industrialized city again. The most important season was season 2, where they focused on how the port has been destroyed by a bunch of eco faggots who refuse to dredge and disrupt the local environment with some factories and would instead rather commit horrific crimes against nature over in Asia and Africa with slave labor where they don't have to think about it at their fancy waterfront parties.Since no one there will vote for a final solution, better to launch into a career in state and national politics and try to do some good elsewhere. To accomplish that, they have to ignore local concerns and cater to the D.C. crowd that will help with that future career, which means further destroying the local economy by bulldozing the only productive parts of it and building a bunch of high end condos for the D.C. crowd that doesn't want to live in Alexandria. The tragedy of course is that the higher up you go, the more distracted and corrupted you become and you can't solve anything there either. You find out your entire job is to nonstop try and raise money from a bunch of union leaders and Israeli businessmen, and all those abandoned homes used as crack dens in Baltimore are necessary for laundering stolen taxpayer money, returned to you as small donations to your political campaigns given by fake residents. That's where your ballots come from too.Every other season focused on local shit that was unsolvable because everyone is incompetent and too politically correct to admit that it's the people who are the problem. It's all symptoms of the real cause: the population that is capable of being successful are dragged down by the population that is incapable. Every way that the symptoms can be tackled is explored, and ultimately fails because of either dishonesty or low IQ.
