Why do they still bother with torture instead of just using drugs to make then tell the truth?

Threat of torture is a fear tactic and a deterrent. The people that actually make meaningful decisions have understood it doesn't produce reliable intelligence for hundreds of years. It's a great way to get their underlings past the point of no return on a loyalty/morality level. Great way to figure out the type of person that won't question an order.
>>220981484
They absolutely work given the proper psychological coaxing but it takes a long time and at the end of the day they are rarely necessary. 99% of real, actionable intelligence is gathered from willing human sources that are almost always just greed and/or pragmatism motivated, or signal intelligence from intercepting communications.

Actually Twin Peaks did it much earlier, I can't find the episode though
But they used to do these still shots of hospital hallways, very spoopy
(If anybody remembers the episode where the camera started moving down the hall, please advise)

Weird how nobody knew for the thousands of years prior
And how the "people that actually make meaningful decisions" still conduct it anyway
>>

midazolam, ketamine, and mdma with 10 days of sleep deprivation usually works

By that rationale they'd be washing people out of the torture program, you'd have all these people saying "They tried to get me to torture someone, but I wouldn't"
Obviously you'd have to double-check the information gleaned from torture but it's just absurd to think that it isn't a useful way of extracting information, hence why everybody does it
Apparently the Romans would consider information unreliable if you HADN'T been tortured
>>
>>220981735
yes I'm sure they would not do something similar to you and they would just let you go

People truly have no idea how bad sleep deprivation really is. I couldn't fall asleep a few days ago and had to go to work after staying up for 30 hours straight. I felt like I was slowly dying the entire shift. I can't imagine being kept awake for weeks with only the barest of microsleeps being allowed to make sure you don't just have a stroke and die.

When I had the wuflu I could only sleep in short bursts of 20 minutes before being awoken in a violent fit of coughing mucus while also going hours lying in bed unable to return to sleep because of having to constantly blow my nose since the flow was nonstop. I handled that okay for 1 day. It then proceeded to stay like that 10 days before I ever started to feel any better. The sleep deprivation drove me crazy more than anything. I'd get into mad rages because it felt like it would never end and I would never get a good night's sleep ever again. Makes one want to put a cold barrel in one's mouth.

they did know, retard, most of the times torture was used just to get someone to admit to their guilt and if the interrogation got to that point it meant that that was the desired outcome regardless of the truth
>>
>>220981300
The former is more fun to the interrogators.
