Porco Rosso is one of the greatest movies I've ever seen and it's also the only honest movie Miyazaki made until much later in life with the Wind Also Rises which still isn't even as honest The rest are beaten out by countless other jap films. "Beautiful Dreamer" is Studio Ghibli but good. I get bored with most Ghibli films but despite having the same level of whimsy I could watch Beautiful Dreamer all day

i do think they're overrated from a story telling perspective, but the quality of animation and distinction in style is undeniable. the wind rises is easily the greatest movie miyazaki has directed and only gets better as i get older. i'd argue it's one of the greatest animated films ever made.
