The others just have better plots and more emotional stakes. This one is essentially three degenerates hunting for riches.Volonte is great at playing villian, and I prefer Van Cleef as a hero. I didn't care for Eli Wallach at all.

Its the first two that follow, or really established, the generic action movie formulas we see used today. GBU is a borderline art film, foregoing typical protagonists or even characters and plot for something more elegiac. If it informs anything in the modern era its clearly Tarantino, since he was obviously inspired by the way Leone used western mythos, mostly that he himself established, to create a sort of cinema-painting of America. I truly do not understand how you can watch GBU and think its “mcu” compared to something like Fistful which is literally the basic prototypical superhero story.
