>mc wishes for "A"
>the movie's "wish magic" gives mc "A" by raping him with HIV riddled metal pole and also gives him 5 different cancers
>because mc didn't specify that he doesn't want to be raped by an HIV riddled metal pole!
>be careful what you wish for kid! (i'm a very smart writer)
I fucking hate this retarded midwit wish logic. This movie is not the only example, it's pretty much every fucking movie that involves magic wishes. They don't show that the wish itself doesn't bring mc happinnes, they just add things nobody asked for that are designed to torture mc. I think that one movie with Brendan Fraser tried to make fun of this trope.

>wish for a peanutbutter sandwich
>get your legs chopped off, cooked and cannibalized by a hillbilly family whose retarded cousin they keep chained in the basement gives you half of the peanutbutter sandwich he'd been given, covered in retard slobber and feces and with slices of your own cooked thigh in it
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

I'm upset that it's actual marketer spam of the same few "safe" emote pics instead of leaked clips and footage

The moral of the story the director was going for is that the simp should never have wished for the pretty girl in the first place.
He SHOULD have stuck with his looksmatch as a modern guy, his fat ugly pig co-worker who later reveals she likes him

the idea is to use it as a springboard for some kind of metaphor about something else (in this case toxic relationships).

the trouble with this movie is that they mostly play it straight just so they can have the most shock-value ending possible.

finally, a meme the marketing company can run with.

Is it just the same tards posting in the thread over and over?

What an original concept for a movie.

just wait for the marketing budget to run out

Yeah it's kinda insane how many people just don't understand the Monkey's Paw trope these days
Surprisingly I watched an episode of the newest Vampire Diaries spin-off where they had to fight a genie that did it flawlessly. Each wish came with logical downsides and the final wish to outwit the genie made perfect sense.

I think all the good writers, being nerdy whites, have been relegated to genre slop

the monkey's paw gives you what you asked for but in an ironic way where you still don't get what you actually wanted. In this movie there is no irony or clever subversion of the wish, it just straight up replaces the girl with a weird demon whose behavior has nothing to do with love. The guy doesn't get what he wanted OR what he specifically asked for. It's worthless.

>Homeless junkie cuts your dick off and the footage made it onto a /rekt/ thread
Congratulations, we all saw your dick

I’m glad I’m not the only one who picked up on that.

The moral is not "be careful what you wish for". Multiple people had their wishes fulfilled with zero negative consequences. The wish is just a vehicle to talk about love and relationships.
But you already knew that.
