No.

A new one opened by my house and bought Lost Highway and Pee Wees Big Adventure from the criterion collection it was also packed as fuck, crazy to see a bookstore thriving in today's market
>>
>>220993090
Almost everything there is so overpriced, no wonder people don't buy physical media anymore.
>>
>>220993090
It used to be a treat to go to B&N but they never rotate their selection. If you have a specific interest you'll see the same book about it that's been on the shelf for years
>$39.95
Nope
>>
I miss Borders
>>
I miss Waldenbooks and Vromans
>>
>>220994479
Borders was better than Barnes and Noble to me. Never liked Media Play that much but they did have cheaper prices most of the time

I used to enjoy their criterion sales until I realized buying physical media is retarded and pirated everything

I asked an employee once why are you guys still in business with the internet being a thing and he said 0 shrink and theft and no locations ever get looted. Why is that? Why are bookstores basically theft proof?
>>
>>220994545
I used to steal books from Borders. Only one I can remember is House of Leaves. Finally got caught and ran away (with a book in my backpack). Never went back.
>>
I love how there's always a fat ugly monster and a qt 10/10 manic pixie chick working at the same time

feels good to live in a place were bookshops still exist

The manager of the one by my sister's house told me they do most of their business from selling Lego.

>wah i have to choose between my next meal or a book
>>
I worked in one for a couple years nearly a decade ago. It was wild how they were shifting their focus to the toys section. We'd have endless team meetings about it and it just felt like you were watching something die. I'm kind of surprised they still exist.
>>
>>220993090
I'm forever annoyed because the Barnes & Noble near me is a weird fake one that's actually a college bookstore
>>
>>220995049
Yeah i saw lots dads with ther kids looking at the sets, very wholesome
>>

The last time I went into a bookstore they were just full of shelves full of softcore pornography for women/brown people worship/propaganda. Basically the consequences of the tumblr whores and they them freaks being the only people they hire (quirk chungus girl will help my store!)... The philosophy section was a tiny slither of a shelf in the back. The enitre customerbase were just women looking for porn or witch spells or astrology shit or trendy dubai chicken honsteading!! Shit.

That is what bookstores have become, foul self indilgent foid holes. Evil.
>>
>>220993090
Used bookstores shit on Barnes and noble. You can get great books from them for 2-4$. Goodwill stores also.

Another follow up on this: my local library is full of africans, homeless, trannies trying to groom kids with “community dnd sessions for autistic kids” aka. Early porn introduction grooming (yes little timmy you can play as a woman in dnd and if it makes you feel funny thats freakin awesome hehe! just dont tell ur parents!) old boomers getting softcore porn romance books and gossiping and finally when I went to look up my selection the only thing ai could find was a book written to ARGUE against the original work. FLAGGED AS: POTENTIALLY CULTURALLY INSENSITIVE. “Sorry goy you can’t look up that hecking book its actual wrongthink! Erm do you want to send your kid to spend a few hours in a room with a stranger to play dungeons and dragons our staff member sam (mtf) loves kids!”

THEY RUINED EVERYTHING IM LEAKING FUCK
>>
>>220995138
Was it a Barnes and Noble or was it called the Crusty Cauldron or something?
>>
>>220994814
Black brown and mixed raced people don’t read
>>
>>220995260
It was in a big mall near the food court. Women reading “milking farm” shit beside kids looking at telescopes and dinosaur books.

God help us.

For years I'd go to church with my evangelical uncle, then we'd eat at Carl's Jr (when it was still good) and then go bookhunting at Goodwill/St Vinnies. I read so many books that way, from The Name of the Rose to The Cable Guy novelization. I hope to be a cool uncle someday.
>>
I'm married, but every time I go to the one in my town there's always some decent looking women there milling around or in the starbucks section. You guys who are looking for some cooter should really go check it out more often.

>local library
These could be awesome spots to go, but I have never been to one that wasn't infested with the most mentally deranged people in the city. Even in real nice (vast majority white) cities I have lived in.
>>
>>220993090
>books
Outdated form of media. Do you still shave with a straight razor?
>>
>>220993090
they’ve done a good job riding all the big physical/analog media waves over the years. plus boomers like going to actual stores. getting coffee, reading some books and magazines for a while in the comfy chairs is pretty kino. especially since its less diverse as others mentioned
>>
>>220995138
>what bookstores have become
Reading (fiction) was always gay.
>>
>>220995416
Do you still have a gaint dildo up your ass
>>
>>220995404
It's a shame that libraries now are just collecting points for those types of people. They weren't always like that, in fact if you were being antisocial they'd kick you out. Now it seems like they've openly embraced being hangouts for dregs and miscreants. The larger the city is, the worst it gets.
>>
>>220994814
>totally real conversation
>>
>>220993090
Overpriced. It's not nationwide, but in Ohio where I come from and some other states, Half Price Books is pretty kino most of the time.

Pre-Covid, they did this thing where they'd rent an entire warehouse at like a fairgrounds and have a clearance sale. A literal warehouse. You could spend 4+ there.
>>
>>220993090
Barnes & Noble is really the ebst Western bookstore, I don't know if it's the last because it's been so long but I'm sad if it's true. It's weird how such a small thing like a library or bookstore can be taken for granted.

>>220994479
Borders was a psyop.
