This is why many of the jokes about celebrities in early seasons usually came off as more random and ludicrous than they ever did vicious. Things like David Blaine’s non-existent catchphrase “twa” or Ronnie James Dio playing the school dance. These types of references were also different from modern seasons in that they were references that most males had to explain to the females watching, and not the other way around.
