Was this movie created to push adderall onto people because the hero of the story faced zero long term consequences for his drug abuse in fact everything worked out awesome for him
>>220994917The fictional drug in the movie is based on the IRL nootropic "modafinil"
>>220994917i liked this movie's ending. you dont get endings like that a lot. he overcomes every hurdle, wins, gets his girl back, humiliates his enemy and is absolutely unapologetic about it. its almost a fuck you to today's audiences
why are downers pretty legal compared to stimulants?
>>220995107Stimulants burn people out far too quickly. U ever see a crack addict? Sure they survive but all they are good for is doing crack. Now an alcoholic, an alcoholic you can squeeze for decades. He’ll still go to work, he’ll buy the beer every day, or the liquor eventually, and he’s gonna be chugging along for decades upon decades feeding into the system. And before he kicks the bucket he’s going to spend any money he got left or take out massive debts to save his life.
Yeah the way they depict NZT in this movie is weird. It starts off like some sort of magic pill like something out of SCP that I read once that was like Red Bull but kept you awake and alert for like five days but then would put you asleep for two days without any negative health effects. But it is later revealed that NZT is not perfect as it works better on people who are already smart and fucks you up once you come off of it, or if you take it for too long without taking care of yourself. So it basically just sounds like any stimulant but the positive uses initially depicted in the film are exaggerated and makes the whole thing feel stupid and pointless.Cool story, bro.
>>220995080The book has him drooling into a dementia state as he sees a us leader give an address to go to ear with mexico.
>>220995080true, but that's part of the propaganda. there are bad side effects shown but they are soon overcome and forgotten by the end of the film. kids out there popping ritalin and shit thinking they'll be the next musk just by virtue of the popping.
>>220995585huh. i suppose thats another way to look at it
