This
Harrison Ford used to be able to act but phoned it in.
Jared Leto is a twat who can't inhabit a role that isn't just him.
Ana de Armas just straight up can't act.

Still one of the top 10 movies of the last two decades, saved by Goose and Villeneuve.
>>
>>220996195
The action scenes felt improbable and I found them tedious. Gritty hard-ish sci-fi shouldn't have action scenes where the character should in all likelihood have died horribly 10 times in 2 minutes.

The cinematography is too clean, too slick. I love Deakins and the images are beautiful, but the first BR had a grittiness to it that this one lacks.
>>
>>220996195
-The CGI when rachel gets shot is atrociously bad.
-There's a part where a piece of dialogue from earlier is repeated inside someone's head, to remind the audience because it was an important piece of dialogue. But this suggests they thought the audience was too stupid to have picked up on it and was completely unnecessary

They're the only things i didn't like. Everyone is seething about leto being in it, but i didn't care about that.
Also - i'm sure if i rewatched it again today i'd find a few more things i don't like.

Denis Vileneuve steals cultural verification through his appeal to solipsism through virulent videogame virtue before ODing on disturbing doses of contrived self serving dishonesty. He shoots atheistically with an ear for zeitgeisty post imdb /v/eddit inertia and intellectual indifference. He works simulation physics as tribunal and strives to emulate or surpass next gen consoles which offer a aesthetic and technologic plentitude he could only dream of - yet he profits from debasing art with post 9/11 the last of us social drama powered by sly video game invocations as orthodox which ring ubiquitous in all millennial men up to thirty. I simply have no respect for the creators of this film or the sycophantic reception its 'cinematography' and superiority over the original (which also has problems) showcase the stunning pseudo intellectualism at the base of middlebrow stepfather denis vileueve.

Unironically, I don't get how she was cast. She's so ugly. I cringe at her scenes, especially the sex scene where we are supposed to think she's hot. Compared to all the hotties in Blade Runner like Rachel, Zora, Pris, Luv and Joi, she's trash.

Leto was fine but the role could have been way better cast.
Ford could have been costumed a bit better (I thought his performance was actually quite good. Especially when talking to Leto).
The scene where K wakes up and all the resistance people are standing around was kind of stupid. It serves it's purpose and I don't think the resistance stuff needed to be expanded on (because it's not at all the focus of the story), but they shouldn't have been so on-the-nose with it in that scene. A bit more subtlety and tact could have been used to get across the purposes of that scene. It feels like it was lazily put in for stupid people.

Great film, though. In my top 3 of all time. Could even be my favorite.

When people watched the 1982 movie, they wanted to be part of that neon-lit perpetual night scenery. It spawned the cyberpunk genre. You don't get that feeling with Bladerunner 2049. The scenery there is anti-aesthetic.

>Wallace inexplicably disappears from the story despite his endgame and vast resources all still presumably being intact
I remember watching it in theaters, the first and only time I watched it at all, and it felt like whiplash. Fucking thing's almost three hours long and has no proper resolution, or at the very least the one that occurs makes no sense in context and character.
Outside of that, the film having absolutely nothing to offer is pretty offensive. As in thematically it has nothing to add on to or improve upon its predecessor, and I say that as somebody who isn't a particular fan of any one of the seven edits of Blade Runner.
I think they really thought this was going to be a blockbuster or something and start a franchise, the movie is so safe and pointless, clearly inspired by The Force Awakens' success. That alone makes me spit. Shame Villenueve sold his sold to bloated, Nolan-tier science-fiction and will seemingly never return to modest-budgeted thrillers. He's on a hot streak of shit with Arrival, 2049, and DUNC. Genuinely some of the worst films I've seen in theaters.

This sums up my feelings about the movie pretty well. It's a very pointless movie that leaves pretty much all of its plot threads hanging. It's like an episode of a tv series trying to get you to watch the next season to find out what happens.

>Send him Off-World for further interrogation
What breed of retard does somebody have to be to actually write this sort of crap? Really though, once Deckard shows up you may as well shut the fucking thing off. Everything before it is redundant as hell, but after he shows up? The story goes to complete nonsense.
>>
>>220996302
What type of acting do you want her showing if she barely shows up and is just a hologram girlfriend? It's not a good movie to measure that. She only needs to be pretty and hot in this and she fulfills that very well.

he should be wearing the cheap clothing of 2049 not 2017. there is no futurism to his drip
>>
>>221003903
What the fuck are you even talking about? The problem is the main antagonist losing by virtue of acting retarded. His stupidity is out of character and undermines the intelligence of the protagonists as well, because their success is equal parts ambiguous and reliant on the former's retardation.
That's why it's dumb, and why the story fails apart from its overarching thematics, which have already been mentioned as being redundant. There's nothing new being told here, so all the movie has is the story conveying recycled themes, and the story and its cast are largely bumfuck morons. So what the hell did anybody get out of this shitshow? Other than ruptured eardrums, if you saw it in theaters.
Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling were pretty funny on press junkets though.

nah, a CEO moving a prisoner off-world to employ enhanced interrogation techniques is just fine. the AV getting lost in a storm over the tide wouldnt probably end the manhunt but deckard could still use the moment to visit his daughter before vanishing again. he'd have to dispose of K's remains though. so what are you on about dipshit?
>>
The le resistance seems could've been cut down. When the eye patch lady's group tried to recruit K I was really worried about what direction the movie was going in because the scene was kind of long. Glad K chose to save Deckard instead

>>221004058
>Interrogate Deckard, the one (1) lead who can ambiguously further your endgame, for five minutes

Yeah it's just fine, if your skull is dented.
Not to mention this nigga has PRIVATE ORBITAL TRACKING SATELLITES that he never uses again, because it would be inconvenient for the protagonists.

1. Disgusting dike looking girlboss head cop bossing K around like she's some kind of badass.
2. Girlboss replicant pretending to be a badass.
3. Harrison Ford giving zero fucks about his performance.
4. Girlboss rebel replicant leader of the resistance bitch.
5. Literal "girl is the key to everything plot" in the form of Deckards daughter.

The canned fart noise Zimmer soundtrack.

Villaneuve dropped his long time sound partner Jóhann Jóhannsson because his soundtrack was supposesly too experimental and didn't imitate Vangelis enough and it seems to have killed the poor guy, but there is no doubt his was better than Zimmer's typical phoned in dogshit.

wrong on both counts. it's a suitable detail for a high value but low risk asset. you're ascribing a notoriety to the resistance that doesnt exist. for all intents and purposes wallace had won, deckard was in the hands of his megacorp. do you even cyberpunk, bro?
