Honestly the atmosphere and costuming in the stargate movie was amazing. It really plays on the early bronze age Anuki myths where humans were enginered as mortal slaves to suffer in the gods stead. The show over the years had more room to grow, but even making the Gould a worm took something of the spooky atmosphere away
>>221002629Uh I think what took away was the movie was cool and the show was [thing you are forced to watch when nothing else is on]
>>221002664I used to wait for my saturday afternoon gun fight in a canadian gravel pit. Show time shari was also a 10/10
>>221002629It really needed a stronger middle. The start is amazing and the end as well, but the middle feels rushed and unfocused. It would be more interesting if more was done with the native culture there and the subplot with the army guys having a contingency plan to blow it up.Maybe have the initial line of conflict be Kurt and the army dudes take a firm stand against Daniel who sides with the natives and as that slowly becomes more and more of a hot conflict and frustrations rise to an open conflict some Wormtongue-type character contacts Ra and then we go into the third act.
>>221002725I agree, there are those wasted scenes that don't really build the characters or move the story forward in the middle. You get 80's montage quality for the climax when you could really do something subtle with the characterization
>>221002629Yeah, I always liked the horus and anubis mask dudes designs and the whole setting
>>221002629i was homeless for a while in my teens and drifted with the trains up and down the east coast. once met a guy with one eye he told me that he had to pull his eye out to get at the demon behind it, and he showed me a desiccated husk of something he wore around his neck, it sparkled even at night like those beetle skins, you know metallic oil spill. he said the world is ruled by invisible voices which can possess any object or thing, and that the thing around his neck was just one type of many things that try to get inside of us to gain control.i woke up later with him trying to dry hump me so i ran away and left a good pair of shoes behind. maybe he was just making up stories who knows, he spoke with a weird accent and seemed to know a lot about specific things (slipped into french and german words, talked about kings and queens, lines of succession, special blood etc) but in general was pretty clueless about normal events.
>>221002838Yeah all you bums are on the low, we know.
>>221002854The movie isn't even on the low. Its got harem boys
>>221002629I like how these older movies were shit on at the time for being cheesey low effort garbage when by today's standards they'e absolutely top tier technically and have more love and cohesion in them than contemporary blockbusters do.
>mythsit's observable fact bro
>>221002874Waterworld was shit on because one of the producers was pissed they filmed at sea and was running overbudget so he used his contacts in the media to spread bad publicity to reign Costner's spending in. All it did was get the audience to think its lame and not go.
>>221002838my uncle is trains man, he get death threat but never rape
>>221002874The puppet for the lizard camel was amazing >>221002877Stargate is soft disclosure, but do you think its immortal grey archon spirits like the movie or worms like the show?
>>221002874New movies are too sterile and nothing really registers as "real" in them. Characters are wearing clothes that look improbably new. Everyone has perfectly styled hair. All imperfections have been edited or ironed out.And the backgrounds and props in most cases are cgi. The lighting also makes everything look like it was shot on an overcast day. Everything either evenly lit, again looking really improbably, or pitch black so you can't see shit.Nothing looks or feels "natural" or even close to it.It's like they decided that the main style for filmmaking is "make it look like a commercial".And the scripts are just assembled either by a committee or punched out by some interns using algorithms.
