>A bunch of japanese devs are using Tupacs & Bunta Sugawara's likeness for a video game
>This is okay

>A bunch of hollywood execs(and his own estate) wants to use Val Kilmers likeness and voice
>This is not okay for some reason(even with his family's go ahead)

Make it make sense

People don't like the Tupac thing, but I'm also okay with the AI Val Kilmer thing because he was an amazing yet underutilized talent.

>but I'm also okay with the AI Val Kilmer thing because he was an amazing yet underutilized talent.
...But AI Val Kilmer isn't a use of Val Kilmer's talent. It's a regurgitation of former performances, each meticulously tailored to that specific character, combined with baseline predicted responses. There is none of the inspiration of Kilmer or his ability to bring something new to each role. It is not the same at all and is thus a desecration.

How is simply modeling a character after a dead person comparable to AI?

I think they're both gross, just like cgi peter cushing in rogue one and cgi christopher reeve in the flash
