The annoying thing is that Rick keeps on criticizing the worst aspects of the show, so at least someone involved in the writing is aware of what they ought not to do, and yet they do it anyway.

I think the animators have taken control of it, and rely on that talent, and violence.
I was watching the squanchy episode, and the animation isnt good; but the sitcom type joke setups are consistent.
I don’t really know what happened. It is not impossible to write funny stuff.

First 2 seasons. Season 3, episode 1 is where it becomes bad because they just jettison character and story developement they made at the end of season 2 to try and get back to the original status quo. Instantly told you nothing on the dramatic level mattered or would ever go anywhere, would have any sustained logic to invest in or wouldn't be subject to being immediately reversed, so now the only thing that mattered was the jokes. Then the jokes got worse and worse.

Even that doesn't fully capture the problem because you can't fully seperate the jokes from the dramatic side. The sense of a continuous internal reality was part of the humour in the first place. The sense that someone getting hurt or put in an uncomfortable situation was realistically bad and had realistic consequences. That was behind jokes like the car defending Summer, the homeless guy attacking the parents, the rape bean. When you say nothing dramatic matters and everything will be reversed as soon as its convenient, situations like that lose the weight that makes them compelling or funny.

at the time season 1 was amazing, everyone liked it except for the dog episode i think which was mixed.
Second season was ok, but good compared to the absolute slop later on

I stand by Season 6 was hilarious. Id love to know why as 5, 7, 8 were garbage but 6 was as good if not better than season 3.
Now its just an action cartoon with fecal jokes. Despite that I still enjoyed the last episode.

Mort Dinner Rick Andre Se5 Ep1 with Mr Nimbus may be the best episode they have. It was fucking hilarious, only for the show to peak and immediately go down hill after. It was such a bizare awful season go from that to their worst episode the incest baby 2 episodes over.

First two seasons, as everyone else said.
Season 3 had some good episodes, but it became trash after that. The main things that caused its downfall were suddenly deeming Rick the "smartest man in the universe" instead of just some drunk, incompetent scientist, and having Beth and Jerry get a divorce. The writers and creators of the show are retards though, and can't distinguish between character development and circumstantial changes, so they effect the latter and claim it is character development.

This show was best in 2007 when it was called Doc and Mharti and my friends and I referenced it incessantly; and still do to this day.
Bushworld Adventures is also the best episode.
I don't care for the fart huffing le wacky sci fi adventures.
