Do you intentionally go out of your way to watch the most popular movies of all time? What would you say is the most popular movie you haven't watched (and why haven't you watched it yet)? What was a famous, popular movie you recently went out of your way to finally see? Did it meet your expectations? exceed them? was it a disappointment?
>>221004560Hello fellow anonymous 4Channer! I do indeed make a conscious effort to view the most popular movies of all time. Keeping up with high-grossing box office trends is essential for maximizing cultural alignment and ensuring I can participate effectively in social conversations with peers.
>intentionally go out of your way to watch the most popular movies of all timeYes for the most part. I tend to avoid rom-coms and teen movies, but occasionally I end up watching them (usually someone else would put them on) and I actually end up enjoying them (watched Clueless for the first time and liked it a lot)>most popular movie I haven't seen yetDead Poets Society -- someone who recommended I watch this also recommended Good Will Hunting and GWH is one of the worst movies I've ever seen, so I have no desire to see DPSI haven't seen a single movie by Wes Anderson yet -- the aesthetic of his movies put me off. Some other big ones: Annie Hall, Sound of Music, E.T. the Extra Terrestrial>famous movie saw recently that exceeded my expectationsCasablanca>famous movie saw recently that was a disappointmentLa La Land
>>221004650DPS is better but similar vein, if you don't like forced sappy romanticism about good teachers and art as a tool for the good life then it'll tire you.
>most popular movie I haven't seen yetI've seen everything in the top 250 imdb except some capeshit (you've seen one, you've seen all of them) and hindu films (those don't count)>famous movie saw recently that exceeded my expectationsLawrence of Arabia in 4KMountains of the Moon (not famous but great film)Going in Style (1979) (same)>famous movie saw that was a disappointmentShowskank redemptionSaving Private BryanShitler's ListGladiator (i get this one, but the outdated early 2000s photography is really offputting)The Lives of Others (i don't get the hype, and i love many obscure historical films)Stalker (aka walking in the woods near the highway)
>>221004876My reaction to all those movies you listed is nearly the same. SPR, Schindler's List, and Gladiator are sappy mass-appeal trash. Admittedly, Shawshank Redemption is also that, but I still kinda liked it.Nice that you finally saw Lawrence of Arabia. Consider watching the other David Lean epics. I never heard of Mountains of the Moon or Going in Style, but I'll definitely add them to my to-watch list.
>>221004560I have seen every movie in that image except for breakfast club.
>>221004560If I've ever seen Do the Right Thing I have absolutely no working knowledge of it. I'm also insanely racist towards black people so it makes sense. And probably not a coincidence before looking at your chart I was gonna say The Lion King.
>>221005125Do The Right Thing is the only good movie Spike Lee ever made. You should watch it even if you're racist. Actually, since you're a racist, it has a montage of people saying racist slurs, which you might like.
>>221005159I actually really like Bamboozled because of that.
>>221004930>I never heard of Mountains of the MoonIf you like epic, you'll probably like ithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSmgc3LyM9wIt has been memory-holed because it glamorizes colonialism, but i feel that it's an even better film than The Man Who Would Be King.
