>main character faces an obstacle>but it doesn't matter because you know its a movie and the main character will overcome the obstacle by the end
>>221006329They should do a movie where he faces a power or antagonist greater than him and who has millions of supporters and the main character just failing over and over again because of hubris.
>>221006329>main character faces an obstacle>but he fails because THAT'S LIFE, SON, YOU SUFFER AND THEN YOU DIE! THE END!I don't see how this would be better. If it's total realism, just tune in to a webcam livestream?
>>221007082except in real life, most people succeed in whatever they set out to do
>>221007128That would seem like a statement that's hard to prove or disprove.
>>221006329>main character faces a major obstacle>it's clear that there's no way he could overcome it but you know it's a movie and believe he'd find a way>almost gets close to overcoming it>fails because it was obvious from the beginning it's beyond his capabilities
main characters are so boringall tv should be about a bunch of characters that just die randomly and if we absolutely must have main characters put them far away from danger until the very end
>>221006329You should watch a Serbian film
>>221007933So like any TV show where characters die like. Are you a robot or are you just fucking stupid
>>221007128Says the vegan drunken hacker who constantly shuts off his enemy's electricity to prove he is superior.
>>221007971>So like any TV show where characters die like
>>221006412horror movies have well meaning main characters that often lose in the end. The Road is a movie where the main character loses, and loses, and loses throughout the whole film, and it is quite depressing. There are also movies based on historical figures, where their end is a loss, and their death is tragic. I feel like there are actually many movies that are antithetical to OP’s premise.
>>221006329>main character faces an obstacle>he can't overcome it>movie ends
>>221006329>main character faces an obstacle>20 years go by>*heh any day now*
>main character goes on a journey>You never see him eat, piss, shit, or jack off every night
>>221006412This one kind of fits the bill.
>>221008116Well, clearly going to the Philippines or to Southern California only has you and your followers follow me there by using electronics and technology. Why didn't you give me your home address back when I was still working out so that we can end this shit? Instead it's a more than a decade and a half of you and your followers bragging about your achievements.
>>221008110let me guessManchester by the Sea?
>>221008116>>221008035Also, since you were brave enough to shut off the electricity to a Tae Kwon Do gym full of kids at night in the Philippines, then clearly you could definitely kick my ass just like all those superheroes in blockbuster movies could beat the crap out of the major villains.
>>221009336Wait, should clarify I was also practicing Tae Kwon Do at that gym which isnwhy the vegan hacker shut off the electricity. Still, there were kids at the gym who proceeded to scream their heads off during the power outage. No worries, I get the blame, not the superhero who hacked the electric grid
>>221006329the movie's called [HERO] not [VILLAN] duh
>>221008099The road ends fairly wellEden Lake ends with the bitch main character about to be torn into to pieces
>>221006329>main character is an unstoppable force>encounters an immovable object
That's funny because I've watched a few films where the character is going through a lot of shit, too many obstacles are being thrown at them to the point where you can tell its deliberate and I'll just turn the movie off. Seriously I can't name them but you'll come across a movie like that and it will piss you off
