>>221007381I wish I had Washington's self-control and self-discipline. I am completely ruled by my emotions like a woman, it's embarrassing
Literally me
>my word is that... an unwashed French woman's fanny
>>221007834Dozy old sod
George was freak of nature physically for the time. You really a specimen like that?
>>221007381I've been playing Empire Total War and its turned into a massacre every time with about 40 people left, I don't know how this dude did it.
>>221007515It’s easy when you’re already rich so people won’t piss you off because they know you’re a nobody
>>221007947He was 6’2So it’s not like he was Andre the giant
>>221008133It was more than his height, he was also strong as an ox and was capable of more physical labor than 10 of his slaves combined.
>>221008257Whoa...
>>221007634Was Franklin really as much of an asshole this series portrays him as?
>>221008257Powerful.
literally figuratively
>>221008754No, it's from John Adams' perspective, and Adams was an extremely insecure and jealous person. Ben Franklin was more famous and respected than Adams was, and thus Adams was suspicious of him and saw slights where there were none.
Yeah, I'm thinking he's literally me.
>>221009072So you're a vindictive, disloyal snake and liar?
>>221007489At least you've got that super sweet sports car.

>>221007381watched the 12 hour PBS documentary on the american revolution. embarrassing how much history i didnt know.one of the most interesting figures i think was ben arnold. didnt know he was a big war hero for most of the war and only turned traitor later into it it. very bizarre behavior. i sort of wonder if he just went flat crazy from injuries or something also funny see how the guerilla americans just had to avoid losing to win while the world super power was focused on taking cities it thought were key and would win the hearts and minds of the people to their side but that had no effect besides losing them time, money, and soldiers...almost makes you think america would have learned something from that...
>>221011506Arnold was a opportunist who switched sides the moment he thought the cause was lost. Brave? Yes. Patriotic? No.
>>221011876no you dont know what youre talking about. obviously things looked much more bleak at the beginning of the wars and the first few years. by time he turned traitor france and already joined america and i think spain and the netherlands had gone to war again with england. things were looking up by a lot which is why its so weird he turned traitor at that point and after he did so much for the war effort only to throw it all away. he was seen as a hero by the common soldiers in his day too and had a key part in the battle of saratoga when he disobeyed orders and personally lead an assault on the british position to overwhelm them which is the battle that convinced the french to join america which is what won the war so there is a non-zero percent chance Ben is responsible for winning the american revolution he switched sides at basically the worst point of the war for the brits and the best for the americans
>>221012020>The Boot Monument at Saratoga National Historical Park pays tribute to Arnold but does not mention his name. It was donated by Civil War General John Watts DePeyster, and its inscription reads: "In memory of the most brilliant soldier of the Continental army, who was desperately wounded on this spot, winning for his countrymen the decisive battle of the American Revolution, and for himself the rank of Major General."[152][153] The victory monument at Saratoga has four niches, three of which are occupied by statues of Generals Gates, Schuyler and Morgan. The fourth niche is pointedly empty.[154][155]
>>221007381Are you 6'8 and weigh a fucking ton?
>>221011506Arnold was resentful to his superiors that he wasn't treated better.
>>221009317he's looking at us...
>>221009072I recently learned that the slave girl Thomas Jefferson had a child with was in fact his late wife's half sister. Really changes things and wish it was more publicly known. Like can you blame him? Imagine your literal waifu passes away and she has a half sister who is black that still looks like her. The black version of your waifu if you will. I dont judge him, in fact I respect him more
>>221013660I don't care that he fucked his slaves, what bothers me about Jefferson is that he was a sneaky little shit that spread gossip about George Washington behind his back and tried to sabotage his presidency while pretending to be his friend, along with his co-conspirator James Madison. Then he pretended he just wanted to retire to his country home when in reality he wanted absolute power, and when he became president he used his authority to persecute his enemies and ruin their lives. Jefferson was a piece of shit
