Season 4 was a step down from seasons 1-3 but still fine, some good jokes here and there. I dropped season 5 because it's just unwatchable

The bloated runtimes absolutely fucked the pacing and the greenscreen to being actors together when needed robbed it of the chemistry that helped make the earlier seasons. They had to keep the characters mostly separate in order to make it at all so they just shouldn’t have made it. It simply wasn’t funny enough and several people looked really fucking weird by that point. Throw in stuff like the drug addicts and it just felt odd and unpleasant

The issue with the Netflix seasons.I think there's still some good jokes in there, but the issue of the show was really the pacing. Singles linger.Where as one of the best part of why Arrested Development is the fact that it's a rapid fire of quick witted jokes. It moves very frantically. Feels like a live action golden era Simpsons with how many bits they can fit in a minute. 4-5 feels more targeted and it stands out more when a meh joke doesn't land. Where in the original seasons if one doesn't land, doesn't matter you're getting two more in 4 seconds.
