Nicolas Cage is 62 years old
Isn't he a bit old to be spider man?
>>
>>221011530
Yes whenever he's swinging around the cgi model looks 60 pounds lighter
>>
>>221011530
yeah but they don't ignore this fact within the show. his character is really supposed to be perceived as in his 40s however. I think what was more jarring was hearing his voice as he trash talked while spider man, he doesn't have a good spidey voice. in any case this show was kino, not a masterpiece, but much more enjoyable than i expected. common Cage W

I would have liked this better without the Spiderman tie-in.
Same with The Batman, could have been a good detective/vigilante movie without being yet another Batman movie.

I have never seen such a young Spider-Man
>>
>>221011530
He's not Spider-Man, he's The Spider.
>>
>>221011530
Did the rights run out for the original comic? Why did they choose to do this all of a sudden?
>>
>>221011530
No.
>>
>>221012502
They have to keep something in production at all times or they'll lose the rights. Avi Arad (jew) is also really angry that Sony went around his head and gave Disney the ability to make Spider-Man movies, so he's always looking to exploit the IP any other way he still can. This is how garbage like Madame Web gets greenlit.
>>
>>221012502
Not all of a sudden. They had the spider verse stuff 2 or 3 years ago and then a string of vaguely related comic properties that bombed to hell (Morbius, Madame Web, Kraven the Hunter) and now they are trying this because the spider verse stuff had at least some fans.
>>
>>221011530
Noir detectives don't get pensions they have to work to the grave
>>
>>221012680
They're all ex cops or ex military so they probably have pensions, right?
>>
>>221012765
Nah, the cops were often kicked off the force and they were not career soldiers, they just served in ww1 or ww2.
>>
>>221011530
You're in your 30s and still posting on 4chan. Isn't that a bit sad anon?
>>
>>221011530
>>221011608

I think the show is great overall. Questionable modern shit choices with the music (getting all synthy and filtery during a lounge song) and the dialogue shot choices (like cutting at every line of dialogue in an exchange) for the first couple of episodes, but even those got mostly ironed out after that.

That asian singer was ugly
But the secretary was kind of cute and I don't even like fat chicks
>>
>>221011530
Moore was Bond at that age
>>
>>221012954
Yeah, the singer is a disappointment. Secretary was fine for her role, but I don't see the cute. Had good rapport with the urchin though.
The reporter was generic.
Gleeson is a highlight.

I legit thought he was playing the villain when I heard of this role/show
>>
>>221012902
4chan is better populated by 30 and 40 year olds. In 10 years ill up that
>>
it was basically all drama and no action
>>
>>221013265
So just like any other modern TV show?
>>
>>221013211
If anyone cared what you thought, you wouldnt be a lonely loser irl lmaooo
>>
>>221013287
yeah but the drama was delivered by cage, so kinda kino. just almost no action
>>
>>221013265
Good. I prefer little action to constant cgi keys being jiggled in my face and no plot or character advancement.
>>
>>221011530
I only liked it when the spider was doing detective work in episode 3, the rest is very mid, with the exception of the electric guy who is great, the romance is very rushed and they have no chemistry, silvermane becomes kinda of a pussy after episode 3, people were just talking shit to him to his face, Nicolas Cage is too old for fighting scenes, the other two supers are boring as shit, and there isn't a single beautiful woman in the show, I'd never watch this shit a second time

The Asian lady is hot
>>
why is he Ben Reilly? I don't get it.
>>
I'm pretty hecking sure anyone can become a spider-man if they get those spider powers, my dumb retard, OP.
>>
>>221013786
...hot garbage
>>
he's pretty clearly over the age of 50 just from the script unless Ruby was older than him. she was 40 when she died (years ago) and Kat is clearly into older men given that she's regularly taking silvermane's shillelagh

>>221013801
he changed his name and identity after he was traumatically reborn as a spider-person

>this is ugly
>>
>>221013972
that's the definition of mid, and that is after she prettied herself up
>>
>>221012765
If they had regular income they wouldn't resort to higher pay private eye, basically henchmen of the rich.
>>
>>221013972
The old timey haircut and fashion are tough on anyone. She looks fine, but not "hottest night club singer in New york" fine.
>>
>>221013965
Ben Reilly is a different Spiderman from the comics, but not the Spider Noir Spider. But I guess they just wanted Not Peter Parker, but Cage cannot play Miles Morales.
>>
>>221012765
Pensions in the 30s and 40s were a near non existent concept
>>
>>221011530
Too much modernity in the characters. I was hoping for a show that actually felt like a movie from the 50s.
But Nick does a good job. I like that his version of spiderman is basically just a thug in a mask, it's fun.
>>
>>221012954
The secretary is fine, but if this was a movie from the 50s she would have been played by a bombshell and the joke would be that she's still single.

>>221011530
Technically no, but since this capeshit tries to pass as noir, then being old adds to the gritty atmosphere of the show. Besides, 40+ year olds looked like 2026 Cage in 1940, so its okay
>>
>>221013378
i'm married with children but hey enjoy your hollow lifestyle I'm sure you have a lot of fulfillment
>>
The first 3 episodes were great but god the rest of the show was just so unbearably mid. The highlights really were the episode 2 spider scene and the ending of episode 3 with the marked bills.
Really wish it had more spider action like in episode 2 instead of Nic character being depressed about being the spider for the rest of the show. Idk what happened for the tension and feel of the show just dissapearing at the later half.
>>
>>221015328
Interesting take. I liked it much more after episodes 1 and 2.
>>221012922
I liked how it's later shown that Nic has these spider mannerisms he wants to keep in check, almost as if he's a spider in a human's body.
To each his own.
>>
>>221015328
Don't you understand? The writers had to dump all their gay feelings about 'Ze Gehmans' for the billionth time.
>>
>>221011530
This is literally my only criticism of the series. If it came out in 2010 this would've been unironically a perfect season.
>>
>>221011608
I absolutely loved the fact that, because he's a war veteran living in a rough city at a rough time, he has absolutely no problems with killing the bad guys/seeing them killed. No brainless "I'll become like them" arguments.
>>
>>221011530
Eh, better him than a negro.
>>
>>221013452
>the romance is very rushed and they have no chemistry
That's the point, retard, she is using him while he's desperately lonely.
>>
>>221014587
>But I guess they just wanted Not Peter Parker

Anon, he IS Peter Parker. It's mentioned in one scene that he changed his name after the war to Ben Reilly.
>>
He can barely speak anymore. Did he have plastic surgery on his face or does old age just do that?
>>
>>221015655
He's putting on a drunken Jimmy Steward impression anon.
>>
>>221015519
He doesn't look like someone who is desperate enough to run away to another country with her, she doesn't look like someone who is using him, but someone at best starting a friendship, they rushed it and didn't develop the chemistry
>>
>>221015955
>she doesn't look like someone who is using him
She is literally still in love with Flint and admits as much.

>He doesn't look like someone who is desperate enough to run away to another country with her
He sees her as his best shot for a fresh start in life. It's more "I need her" than "I love her," which is why he isn't exactly heartbroken at the end.
>>
I was on the fence about this one for a while, but Gleeson made me laugh a lot.
