Aliens vs Predator was all the stuff from one of the many abandoned sequels to Alien (along with earth war). They also adapted Concrete jungle into a comic and a novel. The idea was back when they wanted arnold back. The story would have followed Dutch's twin brother, a hard boiled cop in new york during a crime and heat wave. The predator puts a tracker in Dutch's brother's neck and spends a week hunting him down because he was the twin of a guy who killed another predator so he must be a pretty bad dude. The only thing I really remember from it was an equivalent of the scene where they shoot the jungle in the first movie, but he ends up leveling half a city block.

Danny Glover is great as Harrigan and you feel for him losing his partner but you don't feel bad for losing Danny boy himself or Paxton's character's loss like you did for Ventura or Billy in 1. 1 felt like a hard won bittersweet victory, 2 felt like a good action movie but not nearly as earned in spite of the decent worldbuilding around the predators.

The direction and cinematography are also better. The film just has better production value in general. Predator 1 looks more generic by comparison outside of the final act.

It flows like a black sitcom with the stupid token white guy and wise street smart minorities.It even begins with an unrealistic shootout, with the entirely unrealistic fantasy gang members because anything realistic might offend the woke narrative.It was trash.By contrast the first one had cool commandos of multiple ethnicities including white, black, and native american. Displayed new technology like active camo and thermal vision for the first time and methods to try and defeat it. Had more believable south american guerrillas or cartel drug fighters. Included big body builders, using new fantasy classics like a handheld minigun. Created the predators weapons.The first left a mark culturaly. The 2nd was slop not even deserving of the title.
