I wish I was rich so I could attend sex parties with attractive women. I'm poor so I can only attend once with ugly ones

>Did I just... did I just CONSIDERED cheating on my wife because our sex life is boring? AAAAHHH IM GOING INSANE
This movie's plot (and the book is based on) is too retarded

That’s not Paths of Glory.

Nicole Kidman has never been hotter than in that scene where's she's telling him about her dream where she gets gangbanged by sailors or something.

There isn't a frame of this movie where she isn't the hottest woman alive. She's like Grace Kelly in Rear Window levels of stunning in this.

What do people see in the Shining exactly?

It's unironically like a proto-backrooms with some of the surreal scenes it has

It has a great soundtrack, interesting sets, and good key performances (Nicholson and Duvall). It's an interesting "puzzle" movie, as some anons here have called it, and this rewards repeat viewing. You are free to read it as a surface-level ghost story, or to read in the child abuse/American colonialism stuff too if you like. Eyes Wide Shut is the closest thing in terms of having interesting sets and the intimations of a darker abuse angle. Both families consist of a married couple and one child, the man gains access to a sort of dream-party.

It has some of the best atmosphere and tension building in cinema. The vibe of The Shining is unique and pretty effective. That alone makes it good, but if you're the kind of person who is especially vulnerable to that sort of atmosphere and tension, The Shining can legit be one of the scariest movies ever made.

Most cultured people would agree to this.
The discussion they're not ready for yet is that Peter Hyams' 2010 beats Kubrick's 2001.
