Which legacy is more ruined?
>>
>>221013044
Star Trek said January 6th started World War 3
>>
>>221013044
Nobody cares about nutrek. But everybody knows about nuwars.
>>
>>221013044
Star Wars had Andor, what has Trek had lately to keep it above the shit pile?
>>
>>221013044
Trek has worse content, but it's easy to reboot or make a new series.
Star Wars is just ruined because it was always centered on the main films and a third of those now suck.
>>
>>221013044
Star Wars, no one ever actually gave a shit about star trek at any point
>>
>>221013044
Despite 90% of nu-trek being either prequels or direct sequels to the OG shows, usually using the same plots, characters, locations and even actors, somehow the original shows remain separated and untarnished.

I can still rewatch Deep Space 9 or The Next Generation just fine, the knowledge that Picard later becomes an android and Q dies for no reason and WW3 was started by Drumpf or whatever the hell else was written in the last 10 years just doesn't phase me. I can block it all out, it may as well not exist.
In essence we have had it bad, but it doesn't matter because you can just ignore it.

Do Star Wars fans have this luxury of ignorance? I'm not too familiar with their sufferings.
>>
>>221013044
With Star Trek all you have to do is have a new series and not mention all of the bad stuff.
Star Wars has been completely ruined, between the sequel trilogy and the almost incestuous content on Disney+ all about random characters from a children's cartoon it's been screwed over completely.
>>
>>221013549
Star Wars only had one good movie out of 12

>>221013044
Star Trek is the one that's been anally raped the worst but there was so much of it produced between 1966 and 2005 that its easier to ignore anything that came later and still have 700+ episodes an 10 movies to enjoy. If they just wrote off NuTrek as being an alternative timeline or just flat out ignored to and picked up where DS9 and VOY left off things would be fine. Star Wars is completely fucked unless they decanonize the sequel trilogy and do them over again which Disney will never do because it'll mean admitting defeat. They're more likely to just remake the original trilogy instead.

Star Wars doesn't have this shit yet
>>
Trek. But it was already on shaky ground post DS9, so not really comparable. Wars has only recently been (((lesbo-feminazi))) raped so hard nobody gives af. Trek was already there pre Academy.
>>
>>221013044
Trek couldn't even wait until Gene was cold in the ground before fucking over his legacy. At least George ruined his himself.
>>
>>221013044
Star Wars was consistently slop, its fans were just hounded out of the fandom. Star Trek was cratered with modernity, see >>221013864
>>
>>221013044
Trek. Star Wars was pure schlock to begin with.
>>
>>221014081
And Disney unintentionally fixed his legacy by producing what they did

Yeah, they really really fucked up Trek
>>
>>221013044
Star Wars legacy was ruined harder but Trek has been laid low for longer.
>>
I think Star Trek would be easier to salvage since there's a clear point on where to cut off the parts nobody likes. There hasn't been a good star wars movie in my lifetime. Both are just complete shit either way
>>
Trek is dead. Star Wars still has some life left.
>>
>>221013044
Star Wars

Star Trek can infinitely side story/reboot itself, Star Wars cannot

I don't disagree, but it could be a curse.

Star Wars can still tap into the Old Republic era.

Star Wars, hands down.
Trek has gone through death, resurrection and return and gotten progressively shittier each time, in both film and TV, but its format alone allows that. Trek had 'Below Decks' that featured scenes of cartoon fags spreading their assholes for a gag. It literally had its last iteration cancelled after a short stint that featured quirk chungus captains and klingons in dresses and ugly ass holograms. It gets cancelled, memory holed and will be brought back somewhere down the line in a completely new costume and reboot, guaranteed. Trek at least had the cognizance and awareness to show the original cast of TNG on screen one last time.
Star Wars was completely shit on, ass fucked and raped. Its characters, its story, its universe; all spitefully destroyed. Both of these franchises suffered by having people that hate the franchises and the fans be put in charge, negating what made them popular in the first place, and the only repercussions they face for such cultural vandalism is by failing upwards. Its the resentment that their own maligned creations aren't good and so they have to deconstruct and twist these franchises into their warped version of reality and sacrifice characters and story for agenda and posturing lectures.

The real victim here is the prolonged systemic attack on positive and optimistic science fiction and the role models and characters that genre produces. The future is no longer something to look forward and strive towards. Myth and legend and creation of stories for the ages take a back seat to contemporary politics, social norms and issues.

Trek can recover and will be rolled out again with another coat of paint over the horribly disguised cultural programming somewhere down the line. Star Wars was killed and still being pulled out to dance while its stumbling around bleeding from its stab wounds. Both however, are so far removed from their origins they may as well not be called what they are anymore.
>>
>>221013044
That's honestly a tough choice, I'll go with Star Trek just because I like it more so the way the franchise has been tarnished bothers me a lot more
>>
Star Wars was always light entertainment really.

Star Trek was way more meaningful and has thusly fallen much farther.
>>
>>221015624
They'd all get it, but yeah peak Carrie was pure nut fuel
>>
>>221014839
nu trek is obviously a different timeline and non canon because ww3 in TOS was during the 90s
>>
>>221016812
>Carrie
I dont think thats actually her
>>
>>221016904
Even if it somehow fit in the timeline perfectly, it would take a single line in a new series to undo it. It's just a format that's easier to dismiss shit in.
>>
>>221016982
Its her, dude. Carrie may have had a strong jaw, but she had a seductive gaze.

sequel AND prequel trilogy
>>
>>221013842
SW should decaninze anything that isn't the OT
>>
>>221016812
Insane how hard the coke aged her.
>>
>>221018402
You can thank John Belushi and Dan Akroyd for introducing her to coke. Dan talked about doing lines off her ass cheeks.
>>
>>221013044
Star Wars. At least Star Trek has the "alternative timelines" thing that can make the bad stuff non-canon
>>
God I wish both of them died or went dormant for at least 50 years.
>>
>>221013044
Probably Star Trek
At least people can go back and watch the first six movies and pretend everything else doesn't exist
>>
>>221019108
Why stop at 50? Any sci-fi script that ends up using one of those is probably better off going its own thing

Star wars

There was a time when sw geeks thought they were better then star trek nerds. The sequels removed any bragging rights about being them cool nerdshit fandom forever.
>>
>>221013044
Star Wars was a more magnificent fall while Star Trek was more miserable.

Star Wars was watching the popular kid from school have a psychotic break and run naked down the street while Star Trek was your nerd friend going trans, the militant kind too.
>>
>>221019158
when they ask you which franchise is worse, tell em to suck a lemon.
>>
>>221013044
i would stay ultimately star trek is more ruined for the simple fact that i expected to be able to enjoy star trek as an adult long into the future and now nu trek has made me despise it.
Star wars on the other hand was just a big feature of my youth and i never expected to be a big fan into old age as it really is a childrends adventure story and while I remember it fondly, it doesnt bother me that its shit now as i'm not interested in watching it.
>>
>>221017005
>>221016904
The eugenics wars were in the 90s, WWIII isn’t the same way apparently. WWIII starts somewhere around the 2030s or 2040s since you need to account for the country still not recovering by 2065 for first contact
>>
>>221014051
Truth
But I'm of the opinion that nuTrek began in DS9.
DS9 was a mix of what worked in NG and what sucked in nuTrek.

For me it's OS, NG, Voy, and three or four characters in DS9. The rest is garbage. And no, fuck every season of Picard. They already torpedoed the boat.
