The comics, which I'm sure you can read online, have a mysterious side that feels like anyone could disappear into a Bulgarian dungeon, sink in the sea, or just get lost on some brutal mountainside and never heard from again. Even if the main cast always win, there's intrigue and peril. Watching the Spielberg joint was like a Wallace and Gromit where the whole world is Wallace gadgets.

I'm actually much more close minded now that I'm older but I distinctly that when I was a kid, reading tintin instilled in me a huge amount of open-mindedness and a positive attitude to foreign and unfamiliar peoples because of how it portrayed the world and the people in it. The fact you'd look at tintin and call it racist is so idiotically self destructive and misses the point of the series completely, and is even more tragic when one considers how noble and virtuous the qualities which tintin as a character and as a series promotes.
