How would you respond to Hugh Laurie without sounding mad?
>>
Frido Kahlo was a talentless hack thobeit
>>
>>221016450
Why would Hugh even respond ?
>>
>>221016531
Don't even need to add thobeit. Hideous art devoid of greater purpose doesn't deserve any recognition other than infamy.
>>
>>221016450
Why is Hugh seething? He's rich.
>>
>>221016450
>>221016561
He was rattled
>>
>>221016531
Absolutely. Her life was much more interesting than her work. Her husband was a better painter too. Now that I'm thinking about it, everyone in her circle was a better artist than her, but people only talk about Frida.
>>
>>221016561
>>221016616
He is proving a point that the creators have to be entertaining and take the audience on a journey. Hence the waiting for her novel jab!
>>
>>221016450
There is no real response, since zoomers just don't understand or appreciate the appeal of primarily episodic TV shows (unless they're a toonfag).
>>
>>221016661
She was iconic for her visage as well. The paintings do pop out if you have seen them once, they are immediately able to be recognized.
>>
>>221016450
I like House. It was fun. Excellent cast, great dynamics, they had fun with the writing, had some good serious moments and a lot of great fun moments.
The only major stupid thing they did was trying to force villains in to the story. The cop was good for a while, but the show got much better when the producers seemed to realise House was the hero and the villain of the show. Or at least saw that a villain didn't work.
>>
"Excellent retort Hugh! However, you really didn't need to pen an essay just to say he was right. Brevity is the soul of wit after all. Ta!"
>>
>>221016450
I wouldn't. I'd listen to him and that's what no one did.
>>
"NBC is singular and you mean parantheses."
>>
wasn't it on Fox
>>
>>221016450
House is definitely not a show to binge because it really that damn formulaic, like most episodic stuff but House goes beyond that and is strictly formula, nearly every episode follows it. I can watch Star Trek or X-Files or Law and Order and reasonably expect something a little different from the previous episode, not true at all with House.
>>
>>221016847
You win.
>>
>>221016450
House MD was on Fox
>>
>>221016836
>The only major stupid thing they did was trying to force villains in to the story.
That was a push from the network rather than the show runners.
>>
>>221016450
He starred in Stuart Little. Fuck him.
>>
>>221016929
Star trek and x files, yes. Any law and order, no. Maybe my favorite was criminal intent because they had such elaborate plots. Bobby goren and Nicole Wallace were the best episodes put to screen.
>>
He's right, but responding at all makes him look salty.
>>
>>221016929
>House is definitely not a show to binge
Works for me.
It was more about the characters and house being a dick, the case of the week was just to get a guest star who has an illness that may or may not end up being a metaphor for the moral of the episode.
>>
>>221016970
I remember that I really enjoyed Stuart Little when I watched it in the cinema as a kid but I don't remember a single thing about it. I would watch it again but seeing how good life was back then, a movie full of white people, man, I just can't handle it. I'd probably blow my brains out.
>>
>>221016962
I know that, why I said "the producers" later on.
>>
>>221016946
Don’t reply to yourself, it’s uncouth.
>>
>>221016847
The "brevity is the soul of wit" phrase was spoken by a character meant to be an idiot.
>>
Janet is retarded because the medical cases aren't the show narrative, just a vehicle for the actual narrative to move.

You can use no-name internet tards to strengthen your ability at arguing and to consolidate thoughts in your mind that were otherwise vague.

Sometimes I argue for things on here that are the opposite of what I really believe in just so I can understand how the other side reasons.
>>
It goes to show you that some people will always be insecure and feel the need to respond to anonymous strangers (possibly bots) to defend their bruised ego.

This guy could wake up and think “hmmm I feel like seeing the Banzai Pipeline because of that documentary I remember now” and go to Hawaii that day or decide to fly to Vietnam because he wants Vietnamese food. He could buy 100 acres for farming or hunting or get into saltwater aquariums and build a huge one with professional help. He has the money to pretty much do anything we’d dream of.

Yet how does he spend his time? Shitposting on Twitter. Sad!

It’s like whenever some famous person dies and you find out their bloodwork showed a cocktail of anti-depressants, anxiolytics, pain killers and so on. Tom Petty had everything but he was on tons of stuff. You’d think they lived like kings and loved life but nope.

Polonius is a lot more complex than that.
The point of that speech isn't that he is giving bad advice, its actually great really insightful advice to be a virtuous person, the problem is Polonius doesn't actually follow any of that, he's a hypocrite. The next time you see him he's sending the normal to france to poke about his business.
I fucking love Polonius.
>>
>>221017337
I don't use social media speecifically because I don't want to feel compelled to respond to strangers. On 4chan if someone replies to you you can ignore it, but on twitter for example, if someone calls you out and you don't reply, everyone can see that, forever. I see it so often, celebrities, politicians even, responding to nobodies, because they fear the consequences of not doing so.
>>
>>221016450
But there are several House episodes where the patient does die
>>
>>221016955

Not surprised that the real life actor of House is the most based celebrity tweet I've come across yet
>>
>>221017659
At the time it didn't need to be different because it was made to be watched each week. There was not constant repetition of the formula because there were dozens of hours between episodes back then while now you watch every episode immediately after the previous which lets you notice and make an issue of the structure. You would sit down, watch and not go "oh I wonder how the episode is going to fir to the existing structure" but "wonder what randomb bullshit House is going to cure today".

Bach wrote transcendent masterpieces, counterpoint of such unfathomable lucidity that it bordered on divine. Huge Laurie starred in a pile of worthless televised medical-procedural dogshit as a cynical curmudgeon appreciated almost exclusively by middle aged women and turboredditors. Huw's legacy, the variations of his abiding theme, will only echo in the dismal puddle of onions that he has marked in history, and not in the angelic chorus of church choirs and holy masses.

>>221018045
NTA but its funny you brought up Andy Warhol's art because thats a pretty good representation of the problem with House as the point of Warhol's art was to show how repetition could rob art of any sense of feeling and render it meaningless, which isn't that different from what you get from watching a highly formulaic episodic television show.
>>
>he's wasting his time defending his thirty year old show to housewives on the Internet
BLEAK!
>>
Any intelligent person realizes that all stories become essentially the same when abstracted enough, and how enjoyable the story is depends entirely on how well it is told and not how original it is.

So it's always funny to me to see one of the low IQs pipe up with some variation of this trite bullshit when they think they've uncovered some secret truth that is being hidden from them.
>>
>>221016450
Honestly, House focusing on a disease of the week was my least favorite aspect of the show. If the show was more character focused, it could have been so much better
>>
>>221016975
Law and Order SVU is barely Law and Order. There’s no formula besides someone gets raped in the first 5 minutes. There’s a non-zero chance they’re storming a secret government facility to recover anthrax by the 3rd act.
>>
>>221017337
How much do you think Hugh Laurie makes?
I mean he probably started out with something along the lines of 1.5 million, but that's one nice house and the taxes for a few decades.
As far as residuals, he probably gets in about 15k a year at most.

House is hugely popular in syndication so it depends entirely on the terms of his contract. If he negotiated an ownership stake like the Friends actors did, he could be making millions in residuals. Regardless, it's almost certainly a lot more than 15k a year.

How are the stories of a giant mechanical nigger fighting sentient planets essentially the same as the story of Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry buggering each others arsehole's and abducting young orphan boys from the tough wet cobbles of Hackney the same when abstracted? Are we talking abstraction in such astronomically rarefied terms that there is no longer even the vaguest sense of anything?
The irrefutable and ultimate point is that Hugh Laurie is clearly a massive old school pedo, and that big American 20-30 episodes-a-season procedural formatted tv is shamelessly formulaic and worthy of ridicule.

It's a formulaic TV show. More to the point like he says here, and like they literally hammer home almost breaking the 4th wall directly in the show, if you cared about the medicine you were a retard. The show wasn't about that, it's just a backdrop to tell human drama, either about the patients or the staff.

One of the first episodes is him doing then when he was forced to do clinic duty.
The thing is he is a genius doctor who runs a diagnostics department, and he specializes in the kinds of cases that have stumped everyone else, so not the kind of thing you could just knock out.
Or sometimes they do get it right first, but something else comes up that throws them off the trail.

One I think I remember is the one with the teenager who had radiation poisoning from a radioactive trinket he unknowingly carried around. That episode ended with him dying and there being nothing House could do to stop it other than manage the decline. Stuck with me when I first watched it because House dropped all pretence of assholery and was completely serious for the rest of the episode.

Favorite House episode? Mine was when House unnecessarily biopsied Cartman's brain against Cartman's wishes and then Cartman was trying to figure out if he was retarded or not. I think it was a two-parter. Something about pidgeons.

My favorite was the one where Foreman insisted on nuking some lady he simped for's immune system; House lets him do it, only afterwards do they discover she had a run of the mill staph infection hiding in her heart, so Foreman basically killed her trying to be right.
